you opened your eyes to see an empty bed. no michael.
you blinked some sleep from your eyes and slowly sat yourself up. you looked around the room. you couldn't tell what time it was, because the room had absolutely no windows.
you stretched out your arms and did a big long and loud yawn. then you stretched backwards, letting out another big long and loud yawn.
you grabbed the blanket that was covering you and wrapped it around your shoulders and body. you snuggled into it and sighed. it smelled like him.
you rolled out of bed and slugged over to the door. you grabbed the doorknob and attempted to twist it, but couldn't. it was stuck. oh, it was locked.
you furrowed your eyebrows and tried to open it again and again and again, until you gave up and flopped back onto the bed.
you closed your eyes and layed there for awhile. just thinking.
you soon got bored and adjusted the blanket to wrap around you again. you stood to your feet and started to walk around the room.
it was a rather large room. you walked over to the mirror at looked at yourself. you laughed and pointed at the mirror. you looked ridiculous. your hair was a a frizzy mess, eyes were all red, nose was bright red and your dress strap was hanging off your shoulder. you fixed yourself, somewhat, and continued to explore the room.
you walked over to the dresser and saw some pictures. you got onto your tippy toes and observed the frames. one was a picture of michaels father, or "the don". one was a photo of michael, sonny, connie, tom, their dad, their mom, and some other guy. they were all on a bench and looked younger. everybody in the picture was smiling except for michael. he was making this awkward like fake smile. it was kinda sad looking. another picture was of a man in an army uniform. he had a straight face and a clean shaved face. he was a handsome guy. it wasn't anyone you recognized though, he was older. but you just shrugged it off.
suddenly, the door opened. you got off your tippy toes and turned towards the door. michael was slowly closing the door. he turned back around and leaned up against the door, shoving his hands in his pockets. he was wearing a dark green sweater with black pants. his hair was side parted and less messy then usual. he looked real good.
you shuffled your feet and looked around the room awkwardly. "how long have you been awake?" michael broke the silence with his soft and gentle voice. you turned your attention to him and bit the inside of your cheek nervously.
"not long." you murmured. michael nodded and leaned his head back onto the door. "you?" you mumbled. michael brang his head down again. "few hours. it's 10am." he chuckled.
your face tinted red and you smiled at the ground.
you stood in silence for a while before michael seemed to remember something important. his breath hitched and he unlent on the door. "um so the locked door." he trailed off. you nodded for him to continue. "sorry. i know it probably feels scary but it's temporary. they've just gotta figure some stuff out. and you'll have to try and earn their trust back." he explained.
you sighed and nodded at the floor. you did feel scared. you felt trapped. like you didn't belong to yourself anymore.
"uh, michael?" you quietly asked, lifting your head to look at him. he turned his head from the floor to you and rose his eyebrows with a nod. "i don't know if this is too much to ask of you, but do you think you could possible fill me in on some stuff? i just get really anxious when i'm clueless." you mumbled.
michael nodded and approached you. he gestured for you to sit on the bed, which you did. you sat on the edge in a crisscrossed position, as michael settled into a red armchair. michael crossed his legs, and his arms across his chest.
