Atlanta- The Goddess of Love Shouldn't Teach Powers Class.
I laid awake in my bed. It was 12 o'clock and I should be sleep, but I couldn't. I had way too much on my mind. Questions like "Why would she lie to me?", " Who was she talking to? Are they the person who stole the orbs?", and "How I am suppose to fall asleep?" .
I am hurt that my mother lied to me. For as long as I can remember, I trusted her completely. She didn't want to raise me at first, but she eventually decided that raising me could be fun. She took care of me like I was her actual daughter, as if I wasn't even adopted. I remember when I was younger we would hike the woods, looking at the animals and the plant-life. I did keep her from one thing though, the Hunters of Artemis. She stayed with me the whole time until I was three, once I had turned three she would go one week out of a month, or when there was an emergency, to lead the Hunters of Artemis. Now that I am older she goes half a month.
The one thing that is truly bothering me is that she knows about the orbs and she doesn't admit to it. At dinner she asked me if I still had my orb. I told her I can't find it and acted like I lost it all the time even though it has been in the same spot in my room since I was 8. She seemed distracted at dinner, as if part of her was here and the other part was somewhere else.
Finally I drifted off to sleep.
...
I woke up at seven and got ready for school. I felt like I hadn't slept at all, everything felt like too much work. I put on blue sweatpants and a Prometheus Academy t-shirt. I grabbed my backpack and made sure I had my Iris-Phone, then I went downstairs and ate breakfast. Mom had already left for the council, but she had cooked me breakfast. After I ate, I ran out the door, and started jogging to school. I made it there just in time before the second bell rang for first period.
I sat down at a desk and looked at Memphis and Beroe. Memphis looked worse than I did, he looked like he had gotten no sleep at all (the twins might have been crying, AGAIN) and looked so stressed that his left eye might be twitching. Its kind of hard to tell, when I am sleep deprived my eyesight does not work as well. Beroe also looked like she hadn't slept but instead look like she could still function unlike Memphis and I.
Aphrodite decided to finally come to teach class, five minutes after class should have started. I am not going to complain to much, as long as I can fall asleep in class. Of course this is the day Aphrodite tries to teach something, Hera is our usual teacher but she obviously , so they found a god that can't do anything to teach this class about how to use our powers. That is a genius idea, huh? I get snappy when I was tired, Hera and Aphrodite are worth something, but they can't teach us how to use our powers at all.
This is how we start class with Aphrodite saying "Okay class show me an example of your powers." Every class starts with that sentence, and class goes as follows; Beroe makes a mini storm cloud that rains and produces lightning and thunder as if it was real, I ask if she needs anything and then I go and get it at amazing speed. Memphis on the other hand just shrugs says "I have no powers." then starts playing with a deck of cards. After all of that happens I go to sleep for about 15 minutes, Beroe gets on her phone, and Memphis generally tries to play solitaire. Yep and this is one of our "most important" classes.
At least today we are doing something a little different. "Alright students you have been using the same examples for a month so you need to use your powers in a different way." Aphrodite said in a cheery voice. Memphis, Beroe, and I looked at each other seeing who is going to go first. Beroe got up and then started to fly around the room then sat down. Aphrodite clapped like that was spectacular when Iliad does that on a daily basis. When she is too lazy to move she just flies instead. I decided to go next "Beroe, Memphis, can you stand up." I ask. They stood up, then I stated " If they were going to race, Memphis would win." They ran to the other side of the classroom and back. As predicted Memphis won. It was Memphis' turn so he did the usual, he sat down and said in a causal voice " I still have no powers."
Then Aphrodite did something that ruined the whole day, she used her powers.
"Class," she addressed us as if there was twenty of us instead of three "I am going to show you an example of my powers. Love is powerful and I am going to show you the most powerful part of love, heartache." She can put memories that make people extremely sad for the ones they love, from family to crushes. It worked because within seconds Beroe was bawling, she probably missed Jason. Memphis looked so depressed it was creepy. My heart hurt though probably because of what happened last night, I was sat there with my heart hurting until I started bawling as bad as Beroe, with Memphis following suit. "Sees what happens." said Aphrodite "That is why love is so powerful, it can make you happy and joyful or it can you so sad and depressed until you cry, then eventually gets worse."
Honestly, I can't say much about today I feel asleep in about every class except for gym, where we played a game that was kind of lacrosse, but the stick had a ratchet on it. And when I wasn't sleeping I was thinking about what Aphrodite did. It was painful to think about but it taught a good lesson.
We walked home together but we just went home, probably to go to sleep or cry again. I still felt sad from early, not as bad but the pain was still there. I went home and went to my room and laid on my bed till I fell asleep. ....
