Jotaro really is my best friend. Even though we couldn't be more different — he's cold and serious, and I'm... well, definitely not that. I guess opposites do attract, or at least stick around.

Walking home from school with JoJo felt normal enough until a sudden, sharp shriek tore through the quiet of the alley nearby. I froze mid-step. Jotaro must've heard it too, because without a word, he started walking toward the noise like it was nothing. I barely hesitated before following.

From the shadowed alley, voices clashed.

"Oh, come on... I know you've got something worth a good amount in that backpack," a rough voice sneered.

"I already told you I don't! Get away from me, you creep!" The girl's voice cracked with fear, barely more than a whisper of defiance.

I caught a glimpse of her — maybe twelve, maybe younger — clutching her backpack like it was a lifeline. And the guy? I couldn't make out his face from this angle, but the tone in his voice sent chills down my spine.

"She already told you, didn't you hear?" Jotaro's voice came low and steady, cutting through the tension.

The man spun around, shock flashing across his face. Recognition dawned — I saw it. This was a kid from our school. From my math class, even. And he wasn't alone. One, two, then four more boys appeared from the corner, smirking like they owned the place.

Jotaro shot me a quick look — the kind that said, We both know who these jerks are. We slipped back to back without a word.

The air snapped with tension.

Then, they lunged.

My fists flew instinctively, but it wasn't just a brawl — it was a calculated chaos, every punch and dodge in sync with Jotaro's, like we were two halves of a perfect storm. I could feel my adrenaline pumping harder than ever, heart pounding in my ears, but I kept my cool — no way was I letting these jerks hurt her.

The girl took off while we handled the gang like pros. One by one, they hit the ground, grimacing with bloody noses and probably a few teeth gone missing. I glanced at Jotaro — his expression was fierce, calm, almost like he didn't even have to try. I wish I could be that chill.

Then, the distant wail of sirens sliced through the aftermath.

"Jojo?" I nudged him, eyes wide with panic. "I literally cannot get arrested, are you joking? Oh my god, what if we get kicked out of school? I'll have to—"

"It's fine. I'll deal with this," Jotaro cut in, voice firm, like no argument was allowed.

I wanted to believe him — happy that he'd stood up for the girl — but inside, I was freaking out. Confrontations, rules, cops? No thanks. Jotaro was always the type to push boundaries and handle whatever came next. Me? I just wanted to disappear.

Later, I told Holly everything over the phone.

"Yeah, that's about what happened," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "And now Jotaro's in jail because he convinced the cops I was just a witness. He won't even come out of his cell, even after they told him to. It's like... he's acting totally weird, and I don't understand it."

"Oh Y/N," Holly said softly, "if Jotaro won't listen to you, I doubt he'll listen to me either. I'm calling Joseph right now — be ready. We're coming to get you, then we're going to get him."

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. The Joestars were like family, always showing up when things fell apart. Joseph and Suzie would check in now and then, but somehow, they usually made my life more complicated than easier.

Back in elementary and middle school, Jotaro wasn't so cold — he was kind, even goofy. We were troublemakers, sure, but we had fun. Joseph used to call us the world's little hellions. Now? He's still protective, but things are different. We are different. I know that deep down.

I glanced at my closet. What would I wear to bust my best friend out of jail?

*Pick out whatever outfit you imagine ofc*

After throwing on all my favorite jewelry and giving myself one last look in the mirror, I grabbed my walkman and checked the tape inside. "(Insert favorite song here)" played softly through the earphones.

Holly's car pulled up right on time. I stepped out and headed toward the car, excitement mixed with nerves knotting my stomach.

"Where's Gramps?" I asked, spotting the empty passenger seat.

"He's running a little late," Holly said with a smile. "But he'll meet us there. I know you want to see him."

I nodded. Joseph was a wild card, but he was family — a parental figure who somehow managed to keep us all grounded.

Holly's smile grew wider. "Oh, Y/N, you look adorable!" she said, breaking the tension in the car.

"Thanks," I said, feeling a little more at ease.

The ride was short, and as we pulled up to the police station, Holly parked and turned to me.

"Ready?" she asked.

I nodded, clutching my walkman. The song was still playing in my head, but now it felt like the soundtrack to something serious.

As we walked through the heavy doors, I caught sight of Joseph waiting near the visitor's area. He looked exactly like he did in the show — a little disheveled, a cigarette hanging from his mouth, but that unmistakable spark in his eyes.

Joseph gave a nod toward Holly and me.

"You made it," he said gruffly but with a warmth beneath.

I smiled, feeling a flicker of comfort amid the cold, harsh walls.

Inside, the officers were already pestering me with their stupid taunts.

"Haha! Jojo? What a stupid name!"

I clenched my jaw, but Holly ignored them, focused on getting answers.

"How many kids did he beat up? Did he kill someone?" Holly asked quietly.

I pulled off my headphones and ran a hand through my hair.

"He didn't kill anyone," I said firmly. "They started it, and Jotaro just fought back. Then more of their friends joined, and he fought back again. It just went on like that." I didn't tell her everything. Not yet. I didn't want her mad at me of course.

My walkman rattled at my side as we turned a corner, and I took a deep breath.

I didn't know what I was about to see.

But I had this weird, unsettling feeling in my chest. I would almost say bizarre...
