There lived an old woman in a small village in the East. She lived in a town called Melancholy with her captor, the Troll. Life for the old woman was not easy, but every day she managed to always somehow get by with a smile. For even though the Troll kept her tight to his side whenever they went into the village, he never once let her go anywhere on her own. For she was his, and his alone.

Still, she had gifts that gave her gladness. She could communicate with others on the astral realm, and so had many companions far and wide that she'd only met in spirit. Of course, there were the Faeries too that kept her company. They gave her much insight and wisdom. There was also her friend, Lahmoo the Takin.

One day, the old woman was out in the backyard at sunset watching the dragonflies while picking her broken guitar. Lahmoo came by to see how she was doing.

"Ha loo-loo lady Gahdiss", he said in greeting. Lahmoo could never master getting her name quite right. Her name is Gladys, but Lahmoo calls her Gahdiss.

She pulls aside the large hood of her over-sized brown cloak, and beams a bright smile at her furry friend. "And a Ha loo-loo to you, my friend. How is it with you today dear ? Have you found a mate yet ?"

"Never, for I have eyes only for you, my beloved Gahdiss," he declares.

"Oh you silly. You need to find someone both your own species AND your own age," she replies, leaning against a nearby tree for support.

"Ah, do not think me fooled Miss. For even as the eyes do lie, the heart can see many a truth through illusions and magic. I have not forgotten your TRUE age, and form. Perhaps you are correct in directing me to my own kind, but you are mistaken to misdirect me so on age." He says.

"Must you remind me of such depressing things ?" She quietly asks, lowering her face in shame.

"Ah but you see Miss, it is precisely this very reason I have sought you out today. For I have met a MOST amazing man in the forest today. Believe it or not, he is a Medicine Dancer." Lahmoo exclaims.

"Rubbish! First you insult me, and then you bring me childish myths. The Medicine Dancers were annihilated long before the birth of my great great grandmother. Enough of you Lahmoo! Go bother someone else." She waves him off in disgust.

"I will not leave without you knowing what is true! I did not come all this way, to tell lies to someone I care for so deeply. I want you to go to him. I have come here to take you TO HIM! Now quit your sulking, and come let us go." He says, gently bumping her with his head.

"It is sunset. Will we be back before dark ? You know I cannot leave with him knowing I was ever away, there will be the Devil to pay." She explains.

"I know, and that is why we must go NOW! Hurry, hitch me up to your cart, and climb in. I will be swift so you must hold tightly, lest you be tossed from the jostling."
