Beyond Hogwarts

I got the answers to my letters today. Yesterday in the evening I sent a letter with Mukti to my parents and one to my uncle and aunt about my first day at Hogwarts. They sent their answers today, and said they were very happy for me, and told me concentrate in my studies, and behave well, and to take care of myself and many more things that will take all night to write.

Maya and Miraj also sent a letter to Aunty Padma and Parvati (we call them 'Mausi' when we meet, but I'm just using 'Aunty' in the diary, for simplicity's sake) and wrote about my sorting there. They got the answer today and there was one letter for me too. Aunty Padma and Parvati said that Di and I are just like the two of them, because at Hogwarts, aunty Padma was in Ravenclaw and Aunty Parvati was in Gryffindor. They said they were proud,(especially Aunty Padma) and told me to write to them if I face any problem here.

I've also got a completely unexpected one, from Ginny Weasley Potter! James mentioned about my sorting in his last letter to her, ("I had to tell her that I was right about you being in Ravenclaw." he said, when I asked him about it). Ginny congratulated me and said that she expects me to be a great witch. People are really so great here!

My classes are off today, as it's Saturday. Nova and I are taking some out of classroom sessions about duelling. Maya and Miraj came up with the idea, and Di is helping us, too. We've learnt 'Flipendo', the knockback jinx quite easily. I think with all these going on, I'm not going to have time to write everyday, so I'll write only when something special happens from now on.

6th September,2016

I had my first defence against the dark arts lesson today, and it was, well, SPECIAL. We had it with the Slytherins. Of course, we were all so excited about it, but when we entered the classroom, it was completely dark. Our Professor wasn't there. We were looking at each other, surprised and confused.

-"What are we going to do?" I heard Fiona say.

"Should we call a teacher?" Suggested Curl Exumin of Slytherin.

"Professor Flitwick? Professor McGonagall maybe?" said Hayes Ben.

And then, all of a sudden, the door behind us closed. We didn't have a clue what was happening. Most of the students screamed, some slammed the door behind, some just stood there, frozen in fear. Me and Nova were startled at first, but after a moment, we got back to our senses and were trying to calm down the chaos with two other students, Hayes ben and Chasina west, but we weren't completely successful. It was kind of uncontrollable. Just then, we heard a voice. A voice familiar to us, a voice that we haven't heard much, the usually low and deep voice of Sarvani Sharma. 

"Stop!" she said, stepping forward from the crowd,"Calm down." There was something in her voice that made the pandemonium come to a stop.

"How can we?" Said Trystan in a panicked voice. His panic was normal, as he was a muggleborn, and unlike me, he didn't have a witch as an elder sister to guide him. "It's all dark.", He went on, " The door is closed, we can't see anything!"

"Come on, we aren't stuck inside some forest or a haunted house. It's Hogwarts." I said, stepping out of the crowd with Nova beside Sarvani.

"Yes, there must me something wrong with this classroom right now. The professors will fix it in a bit." Said Nova.

"But are we going to stand here in darkness?" Asked Chasina West.

"No we aren't." I said, as an idea flashed in my mind."Light up your wands."

"But only the one who can do the Lumos charm pefectly. We don't want any more problems, do we?" Said Sarvani.

There was a murmur of "Lumos" and the room was glowing with white light from at least twelve wands.
