Stevie was walking around her bedroom picking out her outfits for the next few days. It was early morning-two o'clock-but for Stevie it was the middle of the night as she usually didn't go to bed until five in the morning.
She was packing and planning clothes, because her baby was due on her birthday, May 26th. So for that reason, they were celebrating it five days in advance. Chris and Lori were flying in, and Barbara and Jess. It was going to be celebrated on Thursday the 21st, and they had planned to go to a steak house and celebrate at home afterwards with cake and ice cream. Then on Friday and Saturday Lori, Barbara, and Stevie would be going to a spa in Burbank for a pre-baby pampering session. The 24-26th, Lori would be staying with her until the baby was born but she was going to confine herself to the house and her bed, but she was also packing the hospital and baby bags. She paused in her movements when she felt a large movement downwards. She cocked an eyebrow and then she placed her hand on the underside of her baby belly.
"What are you doing in there little one?" She didn't know the gender so she had taken to calling it Little One. As it was though, she was trying not to get too attached to the little creature. She had already set it up so 24 hours after the birth of the baby a social worker would be there so she could place the baby up for adoption.
It absolutely killed her. From the get-go this pregnancy had been different. She had four abortions so taking a pregnancy test when she was bloat-y and puke-y and had missed a period wasn't uncommon. When this pregnancy test came back positive her heart leapt out of her chest at the same time that her stomach fell out of her ass.
She knew that it was Lindsey Buckingham's baby and part of her was so happy that even though he had seemingly distanced himself from her by quitting the band, she now had a piece of him for the rest of her life. But then they went on the tour for Shake the Cage...she realized half way through it that she couldn't do it. She couldn't be mom and world famous rockstar. Because that meant she would have virtually no time for that baby. She was still relatively early when she went in for an abortion but as they were getting her ready and prepped they had let her listen to the heart and it was almost like her heart had been torn to shreds because she realized that if she were to kill the baby she would subsequently kill the love she had for Lindsey and she didn't like that connotation.
It was with a heavy heart that she decided to continue with her pregnancy and then she'd put the baby up for adoption. It absolutely killed her though because she had grown to love the little tiny creature that was growing in her belly. She had a list of names written out and she had started drafting a letter to be given to the baby when they were eighteen and she had made a little baby blanket. It was a white color because it was gender neutral but she wanted the baby to have something from her.
She was doing her nightly routine when instead of a large movement she felt an intense wave of pain that brought her down onto her vanity stool.
"Holy Shit." She stated as soon as it passed, her hands gripping at her belly. It didn't last long but it scared her a little bit.
It happened again a few moments later and it dawned on her what could possibly be happening. And when it did dawn on her she brought her arms up to her vanity and laid her head on her forearms. She cried and breathed through the pain and then sniffled and sat up straighter.
"I don't want you to come yet little one...you aren't coming right, it's just those prep contractions right?" She sniffles and coos to her child hoping that it would change the outcome of what was happening simply because she wasn't ready. She wasn't ready to give her baby up she wanted to keep them to herself for a little bit longer.
