The maniacal laughter chilled Socks to the bone. After a moment it stopped. L4FF had spotted Socks now, and tilted his head slightly.
"Well, well, well, Socksfor1, is it? Been a while, hasn't it?" L4FF's voice boomed across the cavern. Sock wanted to run as fast and as far as he could, but he couldn't. His legs had been stuck to the floor by something that was one hundred times stronger than gorilla glue. All he could do was stare. Stare into L4FF's pink, glowing, glass covered eyes that had white glowing slits in place of his pupils.
L4FF started to slowly advance toward Socks, and that seemed to remove what was sticking him to the ground, because within a couple of ticks Socks was running like his life depended on it... Probably because his life did depend on it.
Socks, Tbh, and Blaza had been sent out to find food, but the idea of anything being down here gave very little hope for getting past starvation. Socks could hear the pound of metal feet chasing after him, but didn't want to risk looking back.
There had always been a joke in the group about how blind Blaza was without his glasses, but last time they'd encountered L4FF (which was only a couple of hours ago), Blaza almost really did go blind in his right eye. Memegod's medical skills had luckily given him a quick recovery, but it had been a close call, and Blaza still seemed dazed by it.
'Wait... I shouldn't be running to my friends! I'll lead L4FF to our... can we even call it a base, really?' Socks thought. After a tick, he pivoted and switched directions, bringing L4FF further away from where they had left Meme and Nadwe.
"Why's you running? I jus' want to talk!" L4FF yelled after Socks. It was alarming how close the robotic man sounded. In panic, Socks did turn to look behind him, neck craning around as he dashed behind another pillar. He blindly smacked into something, and then saw a flash of red, along with it coming a familiar voice.
"Ow! Hey, watch where you're going Soc— OH HOLY FISH STICKS!" A crab-clawed hand pinched around Sock's arm and dragged him up from the floor, pulling him back into a stumbling run.
"Heyyyyy there, friend!" L4FF called in a sing-song voice. Playful, yet meaning everything but. Sock's vision was slightly blurry, but it was nothing too much. He looked up to see Tbh, and put on a burst of speed, because his friend had practically been dragging him, and it was slowing both of them down.
Then something yanked Socks back, pulling his arm out of Tbh's grip. Tbh's claw sliced through his wrist, and he let out a yelp of alarm. A couple ticks later, he realized L4FF had picked him up with his gravity gun... Gravity arm? The thing was in place of where L4FF's hand had been only a few ticks ago.
Socks could see the fear in Tbh's eyes when he swiveled his head to look toward his friend. "Go, Tbh! Get out of here!" he called. And Socks swore he'd never seen someone bolt away as fast.
A couple ticks later, Socks felt a shivering blast wrack through his body and went flying through the air. His back slammed against a pillar with a sickening CRACK! and his vision blurred. Extreme pain was the last thing he remembered before crumpling into the floor and blacking out.

Tbh ran and ran, weaving between the pillars quickly. The echo of metal footsteps had stopped long ago, but he kept moving anyway. After a while, when his legs became too tired to keep up the pace, he slid his back up against one of the pillars, proceeding to sit and breathe heavily.
He sat there heaving for a long time as adrenaline wore off. Then guilt suddenly started to creep in. 'I just left my friend...' he thought distantly.
