「KAZUURI」

It is a sunny day, a new day to start for us. Today is the day—my gut says so.

Something will happen.

I clenched the strap of my bag as I walk towards the gate, grabbing my ID to scan it.

A successful beep opened the entrance for me. The number of people inside surprised me. We're all packed, and here I thought, I was just early that I've seen no students at the outer gate. It was never been like this before. Instead of the gloomy ambience resonating around, everyone looks... happy.

Seems like they're all excited. I can hear students laughing at each other, talking about what they've missed and what happened during their summer. It got me thinking, my life has been boring. I've never seen myself smile genuinely like them ever since I moved out.

Ever since that day.

The morning breeze blows from the north, even if the sun were almost at its peak, it was still cold. I stopped threading my way to gaze upon the tall structures in front of me. Huge buildings stood from left and right—imitating a castle but it looks more modern than what a traditional castle would look like. Still, it was too lavish; Statues were aligned at the entrance; depicting the faces of the contributors and founders of this school. Looking at the whole castle, I was suddenly reminded of something... It feels nostalgic to look at the whole structure.

"The time I was a kid..." I muttered without even realising it.

I was taken aback by that thought, it has been a long time since that. Did I ever change? The only thing I can still feel is...

"Ow!" As I look down, a familiar face was disdained. His curly hair is ruffled, it looks like a total mess but it suits his personality: scatterbrained.

"Nico," I murmured when I met his purple eyes with a touch of blue.

"Monar—I mean, President! This is urgent!" He was rushing towards me when stupidity hit him, making him fall down the pavement—as usual. That guy seems to fall down every time we make eye contact. A clumsy human. Despite his eyes seemed disappointed, looking at the paper lying on the floor that got dirty, he continued to force a smile at me like an "idiot."

Ah, I said it again.

"Tsk tsk tsk," Clicking her tongue, two more people approached me from behind. "Early in the morning, the first day of school, you're at it again" The one with fair skin curved her lips to smile at me when I glanced at her, while beside her, a funny parrot is lecturing me; aside from her hair looking like a bird's nest, the colour resembles a parrot's feather.

I stared at them for a while, ignoring the parrot's lectures about ethics. A very boring lesson. I was about to take another step when a hand pulled my wrist. A moment of hesitation whether to open my mouth or not, I took a glance at my wristwatch—it's almost 7 AM.

"I'm gonna be late, funny head. You look like a bird, are you trying to imitate a funny parrot?" With that, her hand fell back to her side, in disbelief of what I just said.
‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎

'That's your fault for bothering me.'

‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎
"W-woah! Grabe ha! For your information-" There she goes, explaining why she dyed her hair with the chemicals that will ruin her hair. Seemingly, she's not also aware that the chemicals can kill her.
