Nathaniel's pov

I sat at the usual desk in the art room, head leaned in one hand which held my pen and my phone in the other. I looked at the messages that Marc had sent last night. He'd apologised for not showing up yesterday because of school work which was fine. That came first. The other thing he mentioned was bringing a new friend. I had heard the buzz going around about the two new students that had just joined. There were lots of rumours going around about them. One such rumour was about them being backed by some rich guy which was how they got into the school in the first place. I ignored them because they were just baseless rumours that had been drummed up to garner negative attention towards the new students. When the door opened, I looked up from my phone. Marc walked in. His eyes fell on me before he ran over and wrapped his arms around me. I returned the action.
"I missed you" I could hear the smile in his voice.
"Missed you too" he pulled away, dropping his bag under the desk. He quickly gestured to the other person who'd followed him in.
"This is my new friend. Her name's Fawn" he looked over at her. She had found herself occupied with looking at the different objects in the room. Mr Monlataing took notice of the new comer, moving away from the supplies he'd been organising to face her.
"Welcome. You must be new here correct" Fawn nodded, holding onto her bag strap.
"This is Fawn. She just arrived yesterday" Marc introduced.
"I'm Mr Monlataing. You are always welcome here if you have any kind of art project you're working on" I got up from my seat to approach.
"What is it you do?" I ask, stepping forward. She lifted her hands up, making motions with them. I blinked, trying to figure out what she meant. She stiffened, pulling out a notebook from her bag and writing something down before showing it to me.
'I write and draw in my free time' I turned to Marc who was giving a smile, gesturing our usual table. I nodded towards him. He turned to Fawn.
"You want to join us. We usually work on our comic at this time" Her eyes widened and she looked between the two of us, before gesturing to herself. He smiled. She nodded. I returned to my seat, Marc sitting next to me. Fawn sat on my other side, reaching into her bag and pulling out a pencil case and Sketchbook. I turned to Marc, beginning our discussion on the comic. We continued bouncing ideas about until the club ended. Alix had already left saying she would leave Marc and I to in her words 'Simp for each other'. I slipped my sketchbook back into my bag and looked over at Fawn. Marc was helping Mr Monlataing with some things so it was just the two of us. I tapped her shoulder and she looked up, removing the one ear bud that was in her ear.
"I don't think I properly introduced myself. I'm Nathaniel" I offered her my hand, bangs falling further into my face. She looked at it causiously before taking it. I shook her hand. She picked up the notebook from before and wrote something before showing it.
"I'm sorry if I intruded on your work" I shook my head.
"Its fine. We're pretty far in for this issue anyway" She wrote something down and showed it to me.
'What is it anyway?'
"We make a comic together. You've probably heard of it. Its the Ladybug and Chat noir comic" something flashes in her eyes before she tilts her head down and shakes it. She writes something down.
'I'm not allowed any kind of comics'
"Really? You must have strict parents" she flinched. I looked down to my bag. I had a few spares of the first issue. I could spare one. I pulled it out, writing my signature on the back.
"Here. When Marc gets back I'm sure he'd be willing to sign it too" she stared at it, blinking twice.
"You can't get in trouble if they don't know about it" she gripped the bottom of it tightly, taking it into her own hands and staring at it. Marc returned, carrying a box of art supplies.
"What did I miss?" he asked, putting the box down.
"I just gave Fawn a copy of our comic. Thought you might want to sign it too" his eyebrows shot up.
"Oh yeah" he approached, picking up a pen and holding the top of the comic to sign his name. She looked between the two of us before holding it close to her chest. She gave a small nod with a smile. Marc smiled in return, putting the last of his stuff away.
"Well, I'll see you in class tomorrow right?" she nods.
"Feel free to show up to art club more often. Might ask you for some feedback" I nudge her shoulder as I walk past. She watches the two of us leave while I link my hand with Marc's. He smiles at me, squeezing my hand as we leave the classroom.
