"MR. AIZAWA YOU'RE BACK ALREADY?!" Most of the class shouts at our bandaged-up teacher.
"My well being isn't important" Mr. Aizawa says trying to calm us down. "Because your fight is far from over"
"What is he talking about?" I think to myself.
"The U.A. Sports festival is approaching fast! And you need to be prepared or it!" He says.
"THATS SO ORDINARY!!" Most of the class yells.
"Come on Mr. Aizawa!" Mina shouts at the teacher. "We just had a villain attack, are you sure about this?!"
"It's necessary to demonstrate that U.A.'s crisis management protocols are sound. That's the thinking apparently" Mr. Aizawa states.
"Compared to past year's, there'll be five times the police presence. Anyhow our sports festival is the greatest opportunity you'll get. It's not an event that can be cancelled over a few villains"
"Jeez, Is this thing really all that important?" I say butting in.
"Y/n... Don't tell me you've never seen the U.A. Sports festival?!" Midoriya says turning to me.
"Never heard of it" I say nonchalantly.
"Our sports festival is one of Japan's biggest events!" Mr. Aizawa explains. "The Olympics we're once the worlds sports festival, the whole world and country would be whipped into a frenzy over them. But as most of you know, that tradition has shrunk in a scale to a shell of its former self. And as far as Japan's concerned, what's taken place is the U.A. Sports festival!!"
"The nations top heroes will be watching. They'll be there as scouts!" Yaoyorozu explains.
"That is true. And naturally you'll gain valuable experience and popularity if you're picked up by a big name hero" Mr. Aizawa continues. "But your time is limited. Show the pros what you're made of here, and you'll make future for yourselves. This happens once a year, so you've got three chances. The entire world will be watching, so if you're hoping to become a hero this is an event you can't miss!!"
(time skip to 4th period)
*RING!!*
"Heck yeah! It's lunchtime!" Kamanari shouts as he exits the class. The rest of the class follows suit with me walking to lunch with Yaoyorozu and jirou.
"So, how was your guy's day off?" I ask the two.
"I didn't do much, it was kind of a lazy day for me" jirou tells us. "What about you Yaoyorozu?"
"Oh, well my mother wasn't at home yesterday, so I mainly just rested. Besides that I did finish one of my books" Yaoyorozu explains. "How was your day y/n?"
"Like I told you yesterday, I just ran a few errands and then I fixed my suit. Nothing special-"
"Y/n!" a voice from behind me says, cutting me off. Turning around I see that the voice calling for me was my mother.
"Do you want to have lunch with me?" she asks with a small smile, as she holds out a packed lunch.
"Oh, yeah I don't see why not" I respond to her.
"I'll catch up with you guys later" I say to the girls as I leave with my mother.
As the two of us turn the corner we begin to walk and talk.
"So what's the special occasion?" I ask her.
"What? A mother can't have lunch with her son?" she retorts.
"Of course we can have lunch together, it's just that you normally tell me beforehand. And you're not really a go with the flow type of person, you know?" I tell her.
"Oh I see how it is... You're upset that I got
in-between you and Yaoyorozu. Tch, sniffing around my best friend's daughter. I thought I raised you better than this" she says somewhat sarcastically.
"W-what, me and Yaoyorozu are just friends. And did you say best friend?" I question her.
"Y/n, you know Nemuri and Mino have always been my best friend's" she says to me.
"Of course I know that, it's just... I didn't know you and Mino were talking again" I tell her.
"Well... After you had talked too her, and seeing you around Yaoyorozu... I thought it was time to talk to my best friend again... Where did you think I was yesterday?" she explains.
"Oh, I guess I never really thought about it" I say as we arrive to her office.
"Well, let's have lunch!" she says as she opens the door and we go inside. While she sits down at her desk, I web both of the walls making a web hammock that I just used as a bench. My mom then gave me a lunch box that she had made and opening it I smelled one of my favorite meals of all time.
"Woah (favorite American dish)?! I haven't had anything like this since we moved!" I say with my mouth practically watering.
"Don't get me wrong I love the soup and all the other stuff you make, but this is a taste of home!"
"So did you hear that the sports festival is coming up" my mother asks me while she begins to eat her lunch. "
Yeah, Mr. Aizawa was talking about it this morning. which by the way, that man shouldn't even be standing" I tell her as I begin to eat my lunch.
"That never stopped you, did it?" she asks me.
"Yeah, I guess you're right... Anyways about the sports festival?" I replied.
"Yes... You see, not only will the entire country be watching. But people from around the entire world will be as well... That's why I want you to-"
"*Sigh* You want me to keep myself at a low rank, and not use my webs so people don't recognize me right?" I say with a bit of attitude cutting her off.
"If you would allow me to finish... I was going to say the opposite" my mother replies.
"W-wait what?" I say extremely confused.
"Y/n... For practically your entire life I have kept you in the shadows due to my fear of you being taken away from me... You are all that I have left in my life... But now I understand that I can't keep you in the shadows forever... Because you are a light, a light that will shine In this world. You are the light that has been given the greatest responsibility of all. You are the light that in two weeks will scream to the world, I AM SPIDERMAN!!" my mother tells me as she has stood up from her chair.
I on the other hand am still sitting down but, I begin to get teary-eyed due to my mothers meaning full words
"Tch, I will mom... I will mom"
(two weeks later)
It's been two weeks since we were told about the sports festival and everyone in class was training extremely hard especially me. Whether it was just lifting weights or web training, I was giving it my all. And I wasn't just doing it for me, I was doing it for all the people that were counting on me. My mom, Midnight, all the past spidermen, and even a whole country. Even with all that on my shoulders, for some reason the person that I thought of the most was Yaoyorozu. But I wasn't thinking of her normally, I had never felt like this before. I wanted to talk to someone about it, but I didn't have time for that. Because today is the day that spider man returns to the world.
A/n: this is a shorter chapter than usual, but I wanted the sports festival to have its own chapter.
