I know how to show a girl a good time
He knew that she was embarrassed. It was pretty obvious, however hard she tried to hide it. And he also caught her checking him out. But now she was stood there scowling at him.
They started to walk across the playground, heading toward the door inside. He got there first, holding the door open for her in such a way that supposed to force her to duck under his arm to get inside. He saw the look on her face when she realised that, contemplating having to get even closer to him, and then she calmly opened the door to the side and went through, not even thanking him for his chivalry. I’m getting under her skin, he thought, this is going to be so much easier than I thought.
“So, we have ICT room, science labs, business studies, maths, history, geography, and there’s the art block here. That’s for art and performing arts. On the other side of the playground there are the language classrooms,” he told her as they walked around the school, him gesturing at doors as he spoke.
“Okay,” Lana replied, not completely paying attention.
“That’s it. I don’t think I need to point out all the classrooms on the other side, you’ll work out where everything is,” he exclaimed, coming to a halt in front of her. Considering she hadn’t been paying attention to what he was saying, or where he was standing, she collided full force with him. He lost his balance for a second but then regained it, grabbing on to her to make sure she didn’t fall. His arms ended up around her waist and if it had been any other girl, from the position they were in, he probably would’ve taken advantage of the situation and kissed her. Still, it didn’t feel too bad with his arms where they were, and he didn’t feel like letting go anytime soon. You have to make her hate you, you have to make her hate you, he replayed over and over in his head, yet still his arms wouldn’t budge.
“Ahem,” she cleared her throat, bringing him back to reality, “Do you mind, Carlos?”
“No, sorry, sorry,” he replied, dropping his arms and stepping backwards to put some distance between them. He let out a groan as his head hit the door.
“So you should be. And, maybe you should look where you’re going,” she smirked at him, just as the bell rang, then turned around and left. He rubbed at the back of his head, wondering what on earth had just happened.

Lana headed out to the playground again, walking away from the altercation with Carlos. What was with that guy? He thought he was god’s gift, but that didn’t mean that she would automatically think the same? She knew the complete opposite was true, that he was an idiot. Even good looks couldn’t detract from that, and he wasn’t even that good looking. Getting one up on him had felt really good though, so she could at least thank him for that.
The playground was now filled up with people all sitting around on the tables and chatting. Judith was walking over from the office, followed by two men and a few women. When she got to the small stage area over in the corner she shouted for them all to be quiet, but when that failed, one of the male teachers whistled. That got everyone’s attention pretty quickly.
“Hello everyone. Welcome back! I hope you have all had a good summer,” Judith began, “Glad to see so many familiar faces and also a few new ones. Now, if our new year 7 could go and register with Mr Dews and Señora Martinez. Then Year 8, 9, 10 and 11 if you go over to that area and the teachers will sort you out with form groups, time tables and books. Year 12 and 13, if you could please stay where you are for the time being.” Lana sat down at an empty table, seeing Carlos come out of the building and head over to where the rest of the people were. After lots of moans, groans, chatting, and squealing, the teachers had managed to sort out all the other years and they had gone inside. Judith was now walking over to where the year 12s and 13s were, and on seeing Lana so far away, she waved her hand telling her to come over. Lana obliged, rather unwillingly, not wanting to be anywhere near Carlos. The only good thing was that Victoria was already inside.
