ok, agree with me or not, some of y'all really need to read this.
ok so, first up. relationships
aight, so in the first arc, the dod go in their trendy "depressed teens go save the world trope". fun times!!
clay, meets peril, and both are touched starved and need physical attention and also don't know anything about romantic relationships. peril, having not experienced any love asides from maybe osprey, since scarlet as a "parent" was psychologically traumatizing for peril. more on that later. and clay, as i said earlier, like the rest of the dod, has no clue what a romantic relationship needs and has to be. not that i know either, but this kid lived under a rock with his siblings until the ripe age of about 17. so, what's going to happen in this stage of the book? romance! shipping! all that wonderful stuff. adds to the plot.
tsunami attacks riptide, and thinks he's cute. in all honesty, i can see this, and maybe whatever starfluhgsts got going on as a maybe realistic relationship considering that im a dumbass and am ranting about dragons. riptide, unlike tsunami, has had way longer in the real world and probably knows that this feisty maybe needs to tone it down a bit and think for a moment before deciding that they're in a relationship in the week that they've known each other. also the fact that their relationship, as of arc two, has been going on for about a year and both are totally mentally stable good for them. (also im rambling so tell me if any of thsi makes sense because i don't know)
sunny, however, is obviously aro/ace because i said so and no one dares to contradict me. as is clay because he's like that. they're both good at platonic relationships.

glory, being the smart kid, should probably know better. but then again, these kids were raised by abusive guardians and (yes im repeating myself) don't know about relationships. im imagining that they'll learn, just not right when they go on their save the world adventure.
glory and deathbringer in the wof books- flirting, all of those fanfics, omg im so sappy will you marry me uwu, glory being a literal teen, deathbringer being twice her age- i mean- what the fuck.
i mean, the sassy assassin that everyone loves, right? but, oh raven, dragon ages don't work like that, dragons are mature at 6/7, and deathbringer could be/is younger than the books say he is. deathbringer, is around 15 or so. glory and the dod, are all around 6. so, image this: you and your (15-17 yr old) friends go out to have lunch or something, and your friend decides to bring along her 30 yr old boyfriend. and unfortunately, that still stands within our society. funsies.
also db should have enough sense to not flirt w someone half his age like cmon dude really can you not?? or your headed to jail
