When you think of soft things, your mind always seems to wander to your best friend.
You think of calloused hands you've memorized through your childhood, of loud but honest words joined by kind reassurances, of bright brown eyes that had been admiring you for years.
You think of the name on your wrist. Of Kugisaki Nobara.
Most would be confused by this statement. If they've ever met Nobara, they would laugh in your face at the idea of her being thought of as soft. You know it seems strange to them, but as childish and cliché as it sounds, you know that Nobara is different around you.
A soulmate is one's other half, no?
A person could only dream of meeting their soulmate as quickly as you and Nobara had. The universe must have been smiling down on both of you, to make you neighbors in the same small town. It was just... pure luck.
Nobara had always joked that you two were the universe's favorite, and you had just laughed along while classmates pointed out that it has happened before—that you two obviously weren't the first soulmates to meet in childhood.
But that didn't stop Nobara from continuing to call you the luckiest person in the world for having her as a soulmate, and she in turn blushed every time you turned the tables on her. It was fun to fluster your best friend, and when you were younger, you definitely didn't think of the implications.
