A/n
So bare with me I have some ideas that might seem a little strange now but will make sense later on in the story.
I made the reader in this AFAB or more feminine appearing, but mention it rarely. People just mainly assume that the reader is female through softer features and the small physique. But I don't mention breasts or anything like that so you can still maintain your self image. I have the reader wear both dresses and pants/suits. I flip flop the "masculine" and "feminine" throughout for fun for me and to help display that clothing has no gender.
Also I describe how the gender nonconforming reader identifies in this. This is personally how I identify, or at least my definition for it. I'm sorry if this offends you, but I think this is a nice way of describing mindsets people can have about gender from a younger standpoint. Because the reader is currently 13 during all of this. So this is meant to be a light/positive way of how a child might explain their labels or lack there of.I also have not decided who all the romantic interests are, but I think I'm going to steer clear of Eren if I'm honest. I don't think in the long term a relationship would make sense with his whole mindset in the recent season(s).
I would love to hear who you all would want but Armin is for sure a big one on the list as well as Reiner, Jean, and possibly Connie for the men. And Annie, Christa, and Sasha for the women. Hanji and Levi might be thrown in at some point but not as permanent love interests. More like flirty friendships.Enjoy!!

2ND PERSON POV
Once the boat pulled into port in what you heard villagers call 'Trost' soldiers with the same rose symbol escorted you away toward these warehouses.
You stayed relatively close to Armin the whole time. Just barely crossing into his personal space so you felt secure, but not enough to make him feel uncomfortable.
Right as you did so he looked at you with slightly wide eyes and a faint dusting of a beautiful shade of pink. The urge to stare right back was undeniable, you wanted to memorize that pink color. You decided it was your new favorite color, you also came to the decision you would do everything in your power to make sure that you would see it at least once a day. It seemed like a color that symbolizes happiness and hope, even purity.
Which definitely fit this small button of a boy.
Armin broke that thought process by giving you a smile and grabbing your small hand. He pulled you to where Mikasa and Eren were waiting with blankets and pillows for everyone.
"No need to be scared, you're with us now. You're the newest addition to the best family ever. Come on, better not keep them waiting," he said with a bright laugh and began pulling me in a light jog toward them.
'Family'...?
You had never had any of those before. Sure, you read about them, but to actually have the promise of one seemed too good to be true.
"Okay..."
You didn't know what else to say, it was too much kindness. Only to be ruined by the angry prepubescent the got into my face
"I can't believe Hannes made us babysit you. We have enough going on without some strange girl to drag me down," he growled out, little pieces flew out of his mouth landing on my cheek. He turned away quickly and started storming off.
Armin called after him and Mikasa began to follow. You took a sharp inhale and made a firm statement," I'm not a girl!!"
The little ball of rage paused, slowly turning around.
"Well then you're a sorry excuse for a boy!! You're small and weak."
