Captain Esmeray Price and Lady Astraea Griffin, different but yet the same, the star-crossed lovers, with a deep affection for each other. One, a fierce pirate, the other a, not so dainty, princess. Royalty and criminal, a forbidden love, made more so by their share of the same gender.

Their differences were mainly in appearance, Esmeray being the taller, stronger one, with short hair the color of dark chocolate, one eye the color of the sea, the other as green as an emerald. A heart-shaped face and very muscular arms and legs. Astraea is shorter, less strong, with long auburn hair, forest green eyes, a diamond-shaped face, and slightly muscular arms.

Their personalities were, however, similar. They were both hot-headed, brave, slightly reckless, Esmeray more so, and strong-willed.

Astraea would sneak out of the castle each night and meet her secret lover by the ocean when the moon was highest in the sky. They would stand where the tide came up, while the water washed over their bare feet which always made them shiver. Then they would sit on the soft white sand, in each other's arms. They were happy, but a lot of good things have to come to an end.

Astraea's father, King Cyrus, found out about the secret relationship and quickly put an end to it. He ordered his knights to wait at the beach for Esmeray and to capture her. They waited for 2 hours on the beach in the chilly night air for the pirate captain.

Esmeray arrived at the time she always did but instead of being greeted by her lover, she was met with the palace guards. They arrested her and sent her before the king. He, not wanting to shatter his daughter's heart any more than he was about to, spared Esmeray's life and instead banished her from his kingdom.

Esmeray spent one day and two nights in the palace dungeons so Astraea could see her for the last time. As a gift, Esmeray gave her lover an emerald pendant with a color, not unlike her eye, and promised to return someday.

Esmeray intends to keep that promise, no matter what it takes. But, unbeknownst to the star-crossed lovers, every day becomes more perilous as a hidden danger approaches, wanting Astraea for itself.
