4) The First Lessons

Despite my tiredness from the previous night I woke up early in the morning at 7:00 am. I was expecting to be the first one up as everyone else in the boys dorm was still asleep but I was proven wrong when I walked into the common room to see Hermione reading a book.

"Good morning Hermione."

"Oh good morning Y/N, I wasn't expecting to see you up so soon."

"I could say the same to you"

She shrugged her shoulders "I suppose you could"

"What are you reading?" I asked her

"Just a book on transfiguration. I can't wait for lessons to start." She responded.

"Did you bring it with you or did you go to the library?"

"I went to the library earlier and brought back a few books with me."

She motioned towards the table in front of her where a stack of books layed.

"You can look through them if you want, some are very interesting."

"Im sure, what time did you get up?" I asked curiously.

"Six" She replied simply

"Six? Why did you get up at six? Lessons don't start till nine." I said shocked.

"It's always good to get an early start." She answered "Plus, I knew no one else would be up so I could get myself sorted without anyone annoying me"

"Fair enough, I can understand that. Also, I know it's a bit random but when is your birthday?"

"September 19th, why do you ask?"

"So I know when to get you your gift of course."

Her eyes widened as I said this.

"Really, I've never really had friends who got me things for my birthday!" She said excitedly with a smile on her face.

"Well, now you do" I said returning her smile. "Mine is on September 15th if you wanted know."

"Really, what a coincidence our birthdays are so close too each other. I need to think about what to get you."

"Don't stress over it too hard. I won't mind if you don't get anything for me." I assured her.

"Don't be silly, I've got to get my best friend something for his birthday."

My grin grew as she said this and we moved closer to each other on the sofa.

"I think theres an extra book against DADA in there. You said you were excited for it so I got it for you." She said with a red tinge on her cheeks.

"Thanks"

After a while of reading and thinking about what to get Hermione for her birthday I felt a weight against my left shoulder.

I looked over to see what it was and Hermione had fallen asleep with her book in her lap and her head against my arm.

I blushed severely at our situation and tried to lay her head down on the arm of the chair with a cushion.

"Don't even think about it" I whispered out.

Fred and George who had been creeping up on me stopped in their tracks.

"We'll get you one of these days Y/N. We'll find a way around your special mind powers." They said in unison.

"I doubt that and please keep your voices down, she's asleep. Also I haven't told anyone yet."

"Not even her, but you two are adorable. You might as well tell people, we are fine with it why not everyone else." Fred said
