Y/N and Harry found themselves in a very long, dimly lit chamber. Serpents were carved into pillars which stretched into the darkness at the top of the chamber. The two boys crept slowly down the long tunnel keeping their eyes and ears alert.
Y/N held his wand tightly in front of him searching for any sign of Ginny, whether that be with his eyes or with his mind. He could hear Harry breathing fast just behind him looking at the carved serpents as if each one would leap out at them.
They reached the final set of pillars and the space opened up, revealing a statue as high as the Chamber itself.
Harry looked up at the face of the statue whilst Y/N looked down. At the feet of the statue, face down, sprawled across the floor, was Ginny.
"Harry, look!" said Y/N.
"Ginny!" cried Harry.
He sprinted over to her immediately.
"Harry!" shouted Y/N. "Come back, it might not be safe!"
"Ginny! Don't be dead! Please don't be dead!" he shouted, flinging his wand aside, turning Ginny over and grabbing her by the shoulders.
"She's not dead." said Y/N urgently. "Get back over here."
"He's right," said a soft voice. "And you'll struggle to wake her."
Y/N immediately turned to face the new person in the room.
A tall, black-haired boy was leaning against the nearest pillar, watching. There was something off about him, Y/N couldn't detect his thoughts, let alone read them and he seemed to be blurry around the edges. In spite of this, Y/N recognised him immediately.
"Riddle?" he said cautiously.
Riddle nodded his head, looking at the two boys.
"As in Tom Riddle?" said Harry.
"Yes." said Y/N.
"Are you a ghost?" asked Harry uncertainly.
"A memory," said Riddle quietly. "preserved in a diary for fifty years."
He pointed towards the floor near the statue's giant toes. Lying there, was the little black diary Y/N had found in Myrtle's bathroom. Ginny must have been the one to try and throw it away. And the one who then stole it back. She must have had it on her when the Basilisk took her.
Y/N went to look back towards Riddle and noticed that Harry's wand was gone. Riddle had picked it up and was hiding it behind his back. Y/N needed to wait for the right moment to act.
"You've got to help me, Tom." said Harry, raising Ginny's head again. "There's a Basilisk, we need to get out of here. I don't know where it is, but we need to go. Please, help me..."
"I don't think that's very likely." said Y/N, looking at Riddle intensely.
"You had to spoil the fun," said Riddle, smirking. "You always were too smart for your own good, you and your little mudblood girlfriend."
A fire blazed furiously in Y/N's eyes.
Harry looked for his wand but couldn't find it.
"Riddle, give me my wand." he said firmly.
Riddle's smirk broadened into a grin.
"You won't be needing it." he said, twirling Harry's wand now.
Harry looked at Y/N nervously.
"I've waited a long time for this." said Riddle. "To see you two. To speak to you two."
