Elizabeth hurriedly packed the last of her belongings. Several suitcases had been on the foot of her now barren bed. The mahogany frame double bed now looks so different compared to the usual bright blue mattress that would usually greet one as they walk in the room. It wasn't just the bed but the walls, the cabinets, the floor look so barren. The usually bright, comforting and soothing color that greeted someone when they walked in was gone. Everything looked brown, bare and dull.
She checked of everything making sure she didn't leave anything behind. When she was sure that nothing was left, she glanced at the watch on her wrist. 6:00 pm.
"Six," she said to herself. "An hour until they start coming home."
She dragged the last two suitcases outside the room and down the half in front of the elevator. She already beeped the front desk for assistance in her things and they already did.
It took her five hours to completely pack everything in her room in the penthouse she and a few of her friends had rented for a few years already. She had finally decided to move out after she and her longest and best guy friend had a fight a day before. After she abruptly left the penthouse yesterday afternoon, she combed the entire New York City to fine her new house.
She had found her new house in an apartment in the Vermouth Building somewhere in downtown New York. The apartment was just a few blocks away from her former penthouse. But she didn't care, all she cares about is the fact that she would be far away from him and them as much as possible.
The elevator dinged making her loose her train of thoughts. She gave a last look in the penthouse she had been living for the last five years of her life. Many things had happened in the four walls of this penthouse that Elizabeth wanted to leave behind. She took a deep breath before going in the elevator and leaving all of them behind her. "Good-bye."
With that, the door closed. She was gone.
