This is a small fanfiction/ continuation of a story for my english class ^^
After that day with us just sitting there, staring at the whirligig. Grandma and I usually hung out, maybe watching a movie, reading, or driving around. That lasted about two weeks. Then one morning I went to go wake her up. She wouldn’t, I knew that she said she would pass soon. I didn’t realize it would come that soon. I sat there crying on her bedside, until Mom walked past the open door. She looked at me solemnly with a frown upon her usually happy cheerful face.
“Grandma” I said in a soft whimper. I’m looking at my Grandmothers pale wrinkled face, it’s expressionless.
I hear the Moms footsteps coming closer, she sits beside me. Her arm snakes around my waist. I look up at her, she’s looking down at the mother tears streaming down her face. I pull her into a hug. We sit there for a good ten minutes in each other’s embrace. I stand up to go find Dad. I find him in the kitchen making some coffee.
He looks up at me with a smile, his expression changes to frown when he sees my tear stained face “Jenny what’s wrong?” his voice is soothing.
“It’s Grandma…” I look him in the eyes.
“Oh no, is Deborah okay?” His tone changes to worried
“I don’t think so, but we all should have known this day would have come” I pause, “just not as fast as it did”
“Where is she?” he starts to walk past me.
“Grandmas room” I answer shortly and start to head back to the room.
Right as we enter the room I see Mom wipe her eyes and stand up lazily. Dad comforts her and I walk out of the room to give them some space.
A week later is the funeral. It’s a small and quaint gathering, about twenty people or so. This included aunts, uncles, a couple of cousins, and a few friends. I’m wearing a long black sundress, my hair pinned back into a bun. The ceremony is over, we’re about to leave to the burial site. People are gathered around each other talking, just small talk really. Trying to fill the silence I guess.
“When are we leaving?” I look at Mom, “Its been about ten minutes since the last time you said we’d go”
“In minute Jenny” Uncle Carter an Aunt Maggie walk over to us.
“Hey Jenny” Maggie waves at me and smiles
