Taehyung opened his notebook once again and looked at the problem which is giving him headache after cutting the call with Jimin.
He looked at the organic compounds and felt his head spin. He loves chemistry. He fell in love with chemistry because of the one who is living with him now. Min Yoongi.
Yoongi was a chemistry student when he met him. They met each other because, his mother wanted him to learn a instrument and his mother knows someone who was teaching Piano and Guitar. He booked classes for Piano and Yoongi was the teacher. It started as love at first sight for both of them. They first started as friends because, both of them were afraid to pursue something when there was a age difference of 5 years between them. And Taehyung was also a minor at that time. But after two months of meeting, they confessed their love and was together for a whole year after they broke up or more like, Yoongi broke up with him.
He still remembers how Yoongi confessed his love. It was cheesy but also heartwarming. He basically asked him to be his boyfriend through piano.
Yoongi likes to say pick up lines at all times and all his pick up lines were creative. Taehyung loved those. He will always write those in a book later when he comes home. He has a small notebook full of Yoongi's pick up lines.
On that day, Yoongi was playing Für Elise. His slender fingers moved rapidly on the piano as Taehyung looked at Yoongi in fascination. He has heard the elder play it daily, but it still never makes him stop his heart racing hearing the beautiful pieces the elder plays with whole of his soul.
"You play so beautiful hyung. I can really feel the Beethoven's feels here." Taehyung said dreamily looking at his hyung.
"Might as well call me Beethoven, cause once I'm your boyfriend, I'll do anything Für Elise." Yoongi said looking hopefully at Taehyung. And Taehyung replied to this proposal by lots of kisses. They had a wonderful time on that day.
Now when Taehyung thinks about that day and the love the elder shower him with, it all feels like a distant memory.
The door opened taking Taehyung away from his musings. Yoongi entered the house, tiredly rubbing his eyes.
"Hey!" Taehyung half waved to the man.
Yoongi looked like a deer caught in headlights. He didn't know what to do. To greet his ex lover or just go to his room and stay there till morning, just as he has been doing for past two days.
Turning back, Taehyung looked at the problem in his notebook.
"You falied to note that carboxylic acids protonate and destroy Gringnard reagents...."
"Holy shi-" Taehyung yelled at the sudden voice behind him. He clutched his sweater tightly and glared at Yoongi who paid attention to the sum on the notebook.
"As the following compound fail to form the Gringnard reagents when treated with magnesium in diethylether. That is the reason why you are failing to get the answer." Yoongi said and finally looked at Taehyung. A smile on his face. The smile was wiped off when he realised to whom he was smiling.
He started to walk away when Taehyung held his wrist. They both froze at the sudden act. Taehyung was berating himself for doing this when things already was bleak between them while Yoongi relished the hold he was receiving from his ex- lover.
"Wait,I.... Thank you." Taehyung fumbled in his words but Yoongi just nod his head.
"It is my duty as chemistry professor to clear any doubts." Yoongi said, his voice alien to himself. He didn't expect seeing Taehyung, talking with him, living with him will make things even more hard for him. The past five years didn't make his love for Taehyung diminish.
"Yeah.. chemistry professor." Taehyung scoffed. He still held the Yoongi's wrist in a tight grip. He is questioning himself.
Why does he still hurt when he has moved on?
Why does he still need the acceptance from Yoongi?
Why does he need to feel the presence of Yoongi at all times?
"I will help you." Yoongi said taking Taehyung from his musings. He sat down next to the younger and both smiled unknowingly. A small blush on their faces.
As Yoongi was teaching him, Taehyung just looked at the elder. How beautiful the elder looked. Even though tired, his eyes held a twinkling expression when talked about the things he loved. His lips forming a pout when he is talking and his cheeks puffing up slightly in a warm colour. For some unknown reason, seeing this, Taehyung is mesmerized.
"And this compound must be....." Yoongi spoke and moved closer to write the formula on the note, when his clothed knee touched with Taehyung, who was wearing shorts. A undeniable shiver went through both of them at this minimal contact.
"I know I'm a chemistry professor, but I would never Bohr you." Yoongi said and Taehyung hearing this felt his heart beating faster. Yoongi didn't understand he just fell back into the old habits of using pick up lines whenever he is with Taehyung.
"I have many chemistry jokes, but now I'm not afraid that they won't get a reaction." Taehyung said remembering when he was still didn't understand science, Yoongi said the same line except for the 'not'.
"I...I'm...so...sorry. I didn't realise." Yoogi spluttered, a marron blush taking on his face making him look delectable. He casted his head down to hide the blush.
"No problem. But I now have know more about organic chemistry than you." Taehyung said changing the mood, because he can't think he can handle a blushing Yoongi.
"Oh really. I bet you can't beat me." Yoongi was thankful at the change and fell back to joke around. He now felt the tiredness seep away. He felt light when he is around Taehyung just like falling back into their old routines.
"Hear me out then." Taehyung cleared his throat and turned to face Yoongi." Are you made of copper and tellurium? Because you are CuTe."
"Even a small kid will know about this. Hear mine out. You are a photon quanta to my valence electron because you excite me to a higher energy level."
"Well, you are a chemistry teacher. If you didn't even use your chem vocabulary it will be a shame." Taehyung said hiding how impressed he is with Yoongi. "I am attracted to you like an electron to a proton."
Yoongi immediately stood up, his head casted down, his hair falling down his eyes as he muttered something.
"I am tired. Excuse me."
"Yoongi Hyung." Taehyung called out, shocked at the sudden departure. They were having a good time, why would Yoongi leave now?
"Good night hyung!" Taehyung said smiling at the elder who looked shocked for a moment before saying the same with a soft smile on his face.
Taehyung went to his room and took a notebook from under a stack of books and opened it. Taking a pen, he wrote today's pick up like said by Yoongi to the list be already has.
While Yoongi spend his time trying to control his rapid beating of his heart. He knows it is just a chemistry joke and shouldn't take it to heart. But when Taehyung looked at him with such a intensity and said those lines, Yoongi felt he was transported to the past where they were so happily in love.
Both didn't sleep that night thinking about their past which was beautiful and their present which was without each other and a future which can never even be thought about.
