"Jimin, stretch it more."
"I can't hyung. It is painful." Jimin whined.
"Come on Jimin, I know you. You can do it. Just a little more and then it will be perfect." Hoseok said.
"Ah!!!" Jimin cried out in pain.
"Yes, just like that. Just for few minutes." Hoseok said.
Hoseok is teaching Jimin to do the spilts.
Spilts is done by extending a person's legs to left and right of the torso. There are three types of spilts and Jimin is right now doing the middle spilt which is known to be difficult."Aw fuvk!" Jimin yelled in pain when his right leg hit the foot of the sofa.
"Hey you okay?" Hoseok came forward and checked his leg. Whenever someone is in pain while dancing he gets really concerned. It has been there before his accident and after that the feeling has doubled but thankfully no one has danced in front of him to show the concern.
He fussed over the right leg checking each toes and the ankle. Massaging it lightly. Jimin seeing this felt himself being flustered. No one has took care of him this much when he is hurt. Yes his parents took care of him when he was sick and Taehyung too upto a level but Hoseok, he is different. The care, the caress, everything is gentle and affectionate. Jimin felt happy to be at the receiving end of this affection.
"Thanks hyung!" Jimin said softly but Hoseok still looked in his leg for any feel of pain.
Seeing Hoseok not giving him attention, Jimin held the hand which was caressing him gently.
"Hyung, I'm okay." Jimim reassured and Hoseok let out a sigh. He looked at the sofa in distaste and stood up pacing the living room for few minutes muttering to himself and finally decided to take a decision as he said, "Jimin come with me."
"Where hyung?" Jimin asked confused. He was now sitting on the ground in Indian style, his muscles asking him to take rest.
"Just come with me." Hoseok said and Jimin stood up, his legs wobbling.
"Get on." Hoseok showed his back asking Jimin to climb on his back.
"Ah...are you sure hyung?" Jimin asked slightly blushing. He knows there is no need for his heart to flutter but being physically close to Hoseok, feeling his body, and what more it was the elder himself making the proposition.
So with giddy steps Jimin climbed on back of Hoseok and wrapped his arms around the neck of the elder and tightened his grip. Hoseok took a key from a box and climbed the steps of the apartment to the top only to reach a floor with a single door.
Hoseok opened the door with the key and they both entered only for Jimin to gasp at the interior.
It is a dance room. The room was bright and pristine. It has natural lighting and the room has a pale wood colour for flooring and white painted walls and ceiling with LED lights and ceiling fans and an entire length of the wall is fixed with mirror. In the corner, the sound system was fixed and in another corner a slab was fixed which was filled with trophies.
"Wow!" Jimin gasped seeing the room.
"This is my dance room." Hoseok said and placed Jimin on the comfortable recliner sofa underneath the trophy stand.
"I take rest here when I feel tired." Hoseok mumbled and looked around the room with a nostalgic feeling. It has been five years since he has set a foot in this room.
Hoseok sat down at the foot of the recliner, leaning behind it and looked at his room. It gave a mixed feeling to him. He was happy to be back in this room but also the memory of dance he will never feel is weighing him down.
"Hyung, are you okay?" Jimin asked seeing a different kind of expression on the elder.
"Yes Jimin, just reminiscing."
"Do you mind if I ask what that is?" Jimin asked hesitantly. He don't want to make Hoseok uncomfortable.
"No. I won't mind. I haven't talked this to anyone willingly. My friends were there when this happened so I told no one. You will be the first."
"Five years ago, I got the acceptance to audition into Red Nation. It is a dance academy which represents the country. And our Korea was in the final after seven years because of me. I was really happy and proud. I danced the solo, group and everything and got selected to the next round. When in the final, I decided to do the aerial dancing. It was going splendid, but due to error the cloth which was tied on the top was torn off making me fall in the middle of the dance."
Hoseok breathed deeply. This still hurt him. It has been years but it still left a bitter taste when he is talking about it. Jimin placed his hands on Hoseok's shoulders, silently wording 'You don't have to speak if you don't want to but I'm here and always be here'.
"The cloth tearing off was actually the crew's mistake. They didn't tie it properly. So I fell down. It cost me my dance career. Red Nation didn't accept me. I was diagnosed with fracture in my left leg and my spine was also damaged. I was in bed rest for four months and later after a year I could properly walk and run around. But still sometimes, I have trouble with my back or knee."
Wordlessly, Jimin slide down next to Hoseok and held his hands.
"But you know who helped me through it?" Jimin raised his eyes in question.
"Yoongi. He was my anchor to life. He helped me stay sane. He helped me stay without dance. And he is one who kept this dance room clean all the time." Hoseok said, tears spilling from his eyes in gratitude to his friend who helped him so much. To whom he owed his life.
Jimin too wiped his tears not wanting the elder to see him like this. Later he will cry for the man who lost everything he loved and later he will thank Yoongi profusely. But now, he will be there for Hoseok as support. As the person who will make him love dance again.
"There were other friends who helped me. They did things without questioning, they gave me the space. My parents supported me. They cried for me and they helped me. They understood I need time and I will never be happy again without dance. They know me. And Yoongi, he was there doing more than a normal friend will ever do. He stayed with me and even took leave from his job to help me. No amount of thanks can cover what he did for me." Hoseok sniffled and wiped his tears, his hands interwining with Jimin, to help him stay grounded, the short hands of the younger completely under him.
"You have a wonderful family and friends." Jimin said.
"Yeah, I know and I'm now glad that I have you too."
