My mind struggled to push out the thoughts of last night. The feeling of someone's warm body pressed up against mine while I was fully immobile. Absolutely sickening. The hot breath against my skin gave me chills. I felt sick to my stomach at just the thought of it. I lost consciousness after a few minutes of enduring that feeling last night, but all I needed was those few minutes to feel utterly uncomfortable. It was that fucker, I'm sure of it.
I lifted my head from my pillow before rubbing my eyes gently, allowing myself to adjust to the bright sunlight peering into the room. I felt so exhausted as if I only slept for an hour. My closet door was slightly ajar as well as my window. I stood up from the bed to slightly open up the closet door. I prepared myself for whatever it was I was going to see on the other side, but I had yet to find anything incriminating of that man.
I had thought for sure that I was in the clear of any danger, that what happened last night was merely a nightmare. A brief moment of relief washed over me for a small moment. In that moment, I actually thought that everything was going to be okay. My gullible ass really did think that everything was alright. That was, of course, until I found a note at the corner of the closet.
"You smell so nice" It said. I went to reach for the note but upon touching the note I immediately retracted back. The note felt rather sticky. I didn't want to dwell on that thought in fear of the thoughts that might later arise from it. I slammed my closet door shut and immediately made my way to the bathroom, washing my hands for a good few minutes before drying them off.
I entered back into my room, wondering if I should alert TK of what had happened last night. I was afraid of what might happen if I let this go unheard, but I was also shaken about what could end up happening if I speak up about it. What would that man do to TK if he was under the impression that they knew too much? No, I couldn't let TK get hurt. Not when their whole mission at this point is to get me home safely.
I reached for my phone and began to send a message to TK. I didn't want to seem too upfront about it, and I also didn't think that having that written down in a message would be very safe, especially if that man is this powerful over the game world.
"Hey TK, are you busy? I kinda need your help with something..." Text sent. I stared at my phone for the minute it took before finally receiving a response from them. TK was typing...
"Yeah I'm kind of busy trying to save your ass right now, but I can take a break. What's up?" They asked, acting so painfully like themselves. I didn't know whether to take offense to some things they said, or if they actually meant some of the sarcastic things they said sometimes. I knew that they only had my best interest in mind, though, so its best to expect the best from them.
"I need to go to the store to grab some milk. You think you could drive me there?" I asked, quietly whispering to myself 'please' over and over again.
"Yeah yeah, give me one minute and I'll be right over"
A sigh of relief escaped me fairly vocally. I didn't exactly know how far away the store was, but I was also scared of what I might encounter if I go by myself. My roommate didn't seem like the type to want to walk with me somewhere, but then again I also don't feel too comfortable around her yet. I shrugged off the thought before grabbing my wallet off the nightstand and walking out into the living room.
Perfect timing. TK had just texted me, letting me know they were heading over now. I opened up the front door to make my way towards the parking lot, but was stopped at the doorframe by a large, intimidating man. I felt my heart sink down. Was there more than on threat to me in this world?
"Rent's due tomorrow. Lucy fork up the money yet, or do I need to start kicking her out?" The man, who I assumed was the landlord, had asked. I had no idea how to respond. I had money on my card, but not nearly enough to cover a whole other apartment in another world. I thought maybe dodging the question would help me in this situation, instead of outright saying I had no money.
"Lucy? No, don't kick her out! That's wrong for you to even consider!" I said. The man grew more pissed with my wording. "Look, I understand that you don't want to throw her to the wolves, but she has overstayed her welcome for far too long. You need to learn when to let her go." He said sternly but with compassion laced in his words. He sighed and rubbed the back of his head. He seemed reluctant in letting her go, but was ultimately something he would have to consider.
"Listen, if you see Lucy anytime soon, then tell her that Don is looking for her." He said before walking down the hallway. That whole conversation with him was fairly confusing, but it did also bring to light a lot more information to now know about this world. I patted the sides of my cheeks before following down the hallway and out of the building. I scanned the parking lot and noticed that TK had yet to arrive. I didn't know how far away they lived, but I was really hoping it wouldn't be too long from now. I looked down at my phone, but there were no new notifications.
My head lifted back up while my arms were folded. My foot tapped the ground periodically. I was growing impatient. A few minutes passed and I felt the air grow stagnant. Something was definitely wrong, and my suspicion only grew when I noticed a tall, lanky figure making its way towards me.
"Please, stay back..." I practically whispered. My body grew frozen, like I was physically forced to be in that position. I could hear my heartbeat ringing in my ears as I noticed a long, toothy smile coming from the ever approaching man. The moment came where the man was finally right beside me. My body was covered head to toe in sweat. The smile from the stranger never faltered, and if anything it had grown ever so slightly. He leaned down so that his mouth was facing my ear. His hot breath was all too familiar to me.
"Come tomorrow, everything should be finished. I can't wait to take you home." He laughed with much bass in his voice. I felt tears well up in my eyes. This man had planned the worst for me, I just know it. I wanted to say something, anything to get me out of this situation. However, all I could do was whimper out a small "Help".
"Y/n, I'm here!" TK called out.
