LIAM:

I pace around in my room, glancing at the watch on my wrist every few seconds. Finally, my watch emits a beeping sound and the time is now 6.

I leave my room and quickly walk to Iris's room. I knock, and several seconds later, she comes to the door. When she sees me, she smiles and asks, "Is it time already?"

"Apparently." I say. "Are you ready for a night of horror?" I tease her. "Never, but I do love scary things, so maybe." She says and shrugs.

The first time I met Iris was when we were both small toddlers. My family had went to see her family, and we had gone swimming in Iris's parents pool. That's one of the few memories I have of my childhood. I don't think she remembers it. I do.

"Do you remember when we met - for the first time?" I ask her. "Yes, a few days ago. Remember silly?" She smiles up at me, confusion clouding her eyes.

"Wrong, almost 16 years ago." I tell her. "Really?" She asks, not amused. "Yes. We went swimming at your parents house and you kissed me." I tell her. "For real?" Iris asks. "For real." I repeat.

I made sure that dinner was in one of the smaller 'breakfast' rooms, a nice distance away from the main dining area. I don't want people intruding on this.

"I don't remember." Iris frowns as I open the door and she takes a seat at the small, round table. For the next 30 minutes, our conversation is comfortable, one between friends.

We've both gotten super comfortable and are playing two truths and a lie, and its my turn. "I had a dog named Arrow, I like sewing, and I've only kissed two people." I state. "Don't be shy!" Iris exclaims. "You kiss hands, so are you talking about lips?" She asks. I raise an eyebrow at that but make a two with my fingers. She nods and before she can guess the lie, which was the first one, someone bursts in.

"Your highness!" One of the palace guards exclaims. "We have to get you to a safe room." The alarm suddenly comes to life and Iris jumps up, covering her ears with her hands. "Hurry, follow me." I tell Iris, and run from the room and down the hallway.

I stop suddenly at one section of the wall and press my hand against the wall. The door slides up, and I push Iris inside and wait for the door to close. Its a small room, intended for the servants, but for now its just me and Iris.
