Where are our children?

As I'm forced to open my eyes on this generation
All I can bear is deep profound humiliation
Ashamed of where we are
After all as been
After all in the now
Our ancestors are rolling in their graves
I where grave clothes
We have disintegrated
Just like days old dead, we are decaying
Leaving behind the stench of excuses
The unbearable odor of failure
Our eyes have been made blind
Our ears branded as deaf
Our minds labeled as vapid
Are our arms only good to be arrested?
When I walk through the streets and listen to
Their conversations,
I'm overwhelmed by the lack of education
and self preservation,
Only focused on what lays on their skin
Neglecting the need to grow within
Underestimating the longevity of today
Thinking they have tomorrow
Proud to be somebody's ho
Satisfied with selling dope
Can't you see this is all laid out for you!
To always be the joke!
You have your PhD in Facebook
Your Masters in Twitter
Your Bachelors in Instagram
Your idols are Beyoncé,  Rihanna, Amber rose,  and Kim....
But where are the accolades for Harriet, Rosa, Angela, and Mrs. King?
Do you know who you are? Who we were ?
Royalty that was our name
Natural resources was all over our land
We lived in clans
Unity was our language
Our curiosity befriended them
The marking of our disadvantage
Our women were queens
And our men kings
Gold and gems dangled from our necks
Custom crowns we wore
Our children were happy
Until they came to explore
Understand you are because they were
Were strong despite their loss
Were intelligent despite their fear
Were determined despite their misery
I ask, what will you leave behind?
Your Ass will deflate
Your Breasts will go flat
Your hair will fall out
Your muscles will drop
Your smile will become toothless
Your swag will be a drag
Your waves will migrate to your ears
Your smooth skin will become wrinkled
Your youthful mind will become fickle

Think...take your time
And keep this in mind...
I wonder what I will leave behind?

Till we talk another time...
