"Miss (Y/N) what happened to you? Are you okay?" Your thesis professor looked really worried as you enter her office.

"I'm doing okay ma'am." You said in reply, taking a seat opposite her desk.

Seeing your confused look, Prof. Han started explaining details of the past week. "The authorities were here last week trying to trace your last steps before you went missing."

"What?!" You almost jumped from your seat.

"You've been reported as a missing person (Y/N)." Prof. Han revealed further. They said you've been gone for a week but since another week has passed, you're now gone for 2 weeks.

"There must be some kind of mistake ma'am." You said as you search your brain for a logical next step.

"Look, I don't want to meddle in your personal life. If you don't want to talk about it, it's okay." She says sincerely. "At least tell me, are you really okay? You're not in some kind of trouble?"

"I'm perfectly fine Ms. Han, I'm sorry if I made you worry. I think I just need to call some people to clear this misunderstanding." First thing that popped in your head is Tracey.

"Okay but I still need to report back to the police that you're here. I'm not sure if they need to have you come to the station. Would you like me to accompany you if they do?" She says, willing to help you beyond her duties.

"It's okay Ms. Han, I'll just go there myself." You said, still trying to make sense out of what happened.

It was your fault but you didn't know it would get this far. You had your phone on airplane mode so you wouldn't get any sms or calls from Lee. You just needed the wifi so Tracey can contact you.

What happened? Last time you heard from her she didn't mention anything about reporting you as a missing person. You head to a convenient store nearby and bought a new sim card. Popped it in your phone and called Tracey's number.

She didn't answer the call which you expected since you're not in her contact list. She probably thought it's a spam call. You texted her and said to give you a call. Instantly after sending, your phone rings.

(Y/N): "Trace, it's me."

Tracey: "Oh my God (Y/N), what happened to you? I've been trying to contact you but I can't get through!"

(Y/N): "I'm sorry I've been really busy catching up on my thesis."

Tracey: "I left tons of messages on your messenger but I guess you haven't seen them."

(Y/N): "Sorry Trace, I just wanted to stay away from social media these days."

Tracey: "You had me really worried. I know the last time we talked you said you're staying with a friend but you never told me where or who exactly."

(Y/N): "I know, I'm sorry. It's just that I can't risk being tracked by..."

Tracey: "It's okay (Y/N), I totally understand but if you keep doing this you need to update me all the time."

(Y/N): "I will, I promise."

Tracey: "Okay, one more thing, you may need to go home. Your mom has been worried sick about you. She was almost rushed to the hospital a few days ago because she hasn't been eating."

(Y/N): "What?! How did she find out?..."

Tracey: "Well your cheating boyfriend went to your house after days of not getting any hint of your whereabouts from me. I thought he gave up after a week of showing up every single day in my apartment. The next thing I know, your mom is calling me and said she reported you as a missing person."

(Y/N): "What the fuck! It was him who started all this?"

Tracey: "Yes, if it weren't for him none of these would've happened. I swear to God, if I see him again I'm gonna kick his nuts!"

Your blood is boiling as you head to the nearest police station. You promised Tracey to call your mom later. You just can't right now since you're enraged by that cheating bastard. How dare he invade your private life!

You were asked to file a report confirming you're not missing. Good thing Prof. Han already notified the authorities and you were just there to sign some papers and have a few minutes of interview with one of their officers.

"Okay Ms (Y/N), we already notified your mom back home but you still need to contact her." The young officer said as he gathered all the papers you just signed. "You might want to do it now than later. She's called us 3 times in the past hour asking if you showed up already." He said in a concerned voice.

You were about to get up but he gestured for you to stay put. "You can make your call here. Take your time, I'll just be outside." He smiled at you in reassurance. You're left alone in a tiny room with that one way mirror on the wall that you only see in movies. Not that you're being interrogated but they wanted to investigate if you were indeed fine.

The young officer even had you read a paper discreetly asking if anybody abducted you and if your kidnapper placed a bug or camera on you. There was a question asking if your life or your family's life is in danger. Wow, so this is how serious they are when it comes to handling cases of a missing person.

You dial your home number and waited for an answer. Fidgeting as you try to compose your thoughts.

Mom: "Hello?"

(Y/N): "Mom it's me."

Mom: "(Y/N)! Oh my God, I've been worried sick about you! Where are you?"

(Y/N): "I'm in the police station, I just signed some papers. Mom, don't worry I'm doing very well. It's just that I needed to stay away to fix some things. I'm sorry I made you worry. How are you? I'm so worried when Tracey said you got sick."

Mom: "Honey, I'm okay now. I was just so worried about you. Is there something you need to talk to me about? Where are you staying?"

(Y/N): "Mom, I'm really okay so don't worry. I'm staying with a friend. I promise to tell you everything but right now I just want you know that I'm doing fine."

Mom: "I believe you honey and I trust that you will tell me everything soon. Is it too much to ask you to come home?"

(Y/N): "I'm really planning to go home and see how you are, so you don't have to ask okay?"

Mom: "Alright honey, I love you."

(Y/N): "I love you too mom."

Your tears just fell after the call. The last thing you wanted was to hurt your mom. She's been through a lot as a single parent. You're her only treasure yet you just caused her so much pain.

You wipe the tears off your cheeks and was about to leave when the young officer went back. "There's someone here to see you."

You had a really bad feeling about this and as the officer gave way, you see Lee enter the room looking all worried.

💜 "Thanks for reaching this far... stay tuned for more."
