When he sees her

After he paid the necessary greetings to his father and grandmother, the general returned to his villa. Unsettled and anxious, he has been waiting too long to meet her in person, but he has not worked out the perfect way to introduce her to himself.

What to do?

Now she is in the same city! After eighteen years of dreaming about her, he needs to see her!

Actually, he reasoned that it is best to confirm if she is really the girl of his dreams.

Once justified, he quickly changed into a simple black attire and covered his lower face with a mask.

He can't risk her seeing him before his big choreographic encounter! He will appear before her in his most dashing form and sweep the poor girl off her feet before she realises what's hit her.

A black figure quickly flew unnoticed over the roof tops in the night and finally stopped on a the rooftop of a big hostel in the city.

As he sneaked through the hostel to find the room where she is sharing with her grandma, he was undetectable.

When he got closer to her room, he could see a young handsome man standing outside the door, hesitating to knock as if debating with himself.

Recognising straight away a love rival, his hands clenched in fury. This must be the childhood brother, Feng Yi.

What is this fool doing? How dare he stand in front of his beloved's room at this time of night?

The general eyed Feng Yi's body from top to toe. Right, he is tall and handsome, but still young. And if one was to compare their face and figure, the general felt that he would win by a couple of points.

Thinking back to the numerous women in his dreams and the body language of those women when they see him, the general is confident in his looks.

He touches his face slowly while remembering the imperial princesses who have fallen for him at first sight, he felt that his confidence is justified.

But, what if she likes simple men? This Feng Yi does have thirteen years worth of childhood memories and relationship with her. Speaking of that, he is already behind!

At this point, the general's heart twists into a knot and fear grips him. In his many years in battle, facing internal and external enemies, he have never felt fear. But yet, at this point the general feels that he is starting to know it.

Controlling his meandering thoughts, he stood still and observed Feng Yi's every movement. Finally Feng Yi had the courage to knock on her door.

After a short moment, the door opened and revealed a petite girl, who quickly stepped out and closed the door behind her. She smiled.

The general was stunned and his heart skipped a beat. She is so beautiful, much more beautiful than in his dreams. The her in life and flesh is beyond even his wildest imagination.

Still petite and small, her figure hasn't filled out yet, but she is showing signs of the full curves that she will have in the future. Her doe shaped eyes are bright, framed with long and thick lashes. Natural shaped eyebrows, neither too thick nor thin perfectly frames her face and adds a naughty charm.

Her nose straight and small perfectly balanced her slim heart shaped face. With pouty full red lips and naturally pink cheeks, she is a sight to behold.

As she smiled at Feng Yi, showing her deep dimples and sparkling eyes, the general felt sourness flooded his mouth.

His heart constricted when she reached out to take Feng Yi's hands and his clenched fist tightened further as she left a small embroidered pouch in the young man's palms.

He waited silently in the shadows as they spoke to each other. He can clearly hear their conversation, it's platonic nature helps him control his urge to snap that man in half and chop off his hands for good measure.

Once she bid the man goodnight and went inside the room, Feng Yi was left with a silly smile on his face.

The general watched in tension as Feng Yi lingered outside her room for a moment, until he turned around and walked back to his room.

Tonight the general had witnessed all he needed to confirm and justify his next decision. He must rapidly secure her in his control and never take his eyes off her.

Who knows what other birds and bees would come if he lets her roam around without him?
His next step is to hide her in his courtyard and wait for her to grow up.

For good measure, he must cut away the lingering relationship with this fake brother.

But how to do it without hurting her? He wants all of her, heart, mind, body and soul, all of it. He cannot risk anything that could turn her against him.

This is a conundrum that the general must work through rapidly. He feels that he is on a slippery race against time and that Feng Yi will surely propose as soon as they settle into the city.

No, he must not give them that opportunity, he must make his presence known to her. Maybe he should follow the original story? That way he can guarantee she will fall in love with him like she did in his dreams.

Seeing the light in her room dimmed for the night, he turned and flew back to his villa.

When he got back, he signalled his manservant to call in the head steward.

"This servant awaits young master's orders," as the head steward kneeled in front of the seated young general.

Head steward has served the Huang family for three generations. He is an old wise man who have seen his share of the world. Never in his wildest imagination could he have predicted that the eldest young master of this affluent merchant family could have such genius that he single handed pulled his family from merchant class to a first ranked official family.

Rumours have it, that just a couple more high profile achievements will qualify him to be titled a prince of the noble class. It is a terrifying and logic defying achievement, but yet, here he is, breaking every possible prediction.

The head steward knows enough to ensure that he can never offend this terrifying master. There are no room for mistakes for there will be very dire consequences!

"I want the servants in this villa replaced tomorrow with new people. I want clean, honest young girls who could be trained to serve without any ambitions. By midday, I will make my selection," said the general.

Surprised at the sudden decision, but the head steward does not dare to question it. Nodded in acquiesce, the steward withdrew.

The next step was to ensure Shu Mei gets captured and sold to the Huang manor as per the original storyline.

The general selfishly reasoned that with her current wealth she will be easily established without needing to interact with him. It will take too long to court her the normal way, especially with the Feng Yi guy lurking around her all day.

He needed to make sure that she cannot escape him and give him time to win her over. He will make up any suffering she might feel in this process by pampering her for the rest of his life and ensuring her family is well taken care of.

Another reason is that she needs to be with him to be protected from his enemies. Once they find out how important she is to him, they will surely target her.

He is too possessive to let her live a life without knowing him. Especially, now he has seen her in life and flesh.

"This subordinate awaits your instructions," says Lu Tai as he appeared suddenly and interrupting the general's thoughts.

"Tomorrow, my manor will be doing selections for new maids and manservants. I want Shu Mei in that selection."

What does that mean? Does he want him to kidnap the girl? Lu Tai thought that his master is too bold, to capture a young girl, force her to be his servant and act as if that it's a normal thing to do.

Of course, Lu Tai knows better than to object, after all, Shu Mei is just a small weak girl, with no power or backing. This is a simple task for an elite captain like him.
