I decided I had better wait for Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum to finish dinner so that we could discuss the evening without Sasha around. It was fairly cold outside so of course they had to take a damn long time to finish eating. Sasha came out first, quickly hurrying so that she didn't even see me still standing on the edge of the street. She hailed a cab almost as quickly as she came out; she definitely couldn't do that in New York. But, soon enough she was gone and it wasn't much later that the two men finally came out.
Niall spotted me and they came over, the three of us standing in a circle on the edge of the street as a few cars drove past and people walked around us. We started to walk down the street and away from the busy area where the restaurant was. It was interesting how one half of a street could be the busiest part of town, and just four steps later the streets were empty and buildings were all shut up and dark. It was late in the evening, or early in the morning, so it did give the streets of London a more eerie feel. Oddly enough it was comforting; felt like Brooklyn to me.
"So, what did you two ladies discuss while we were out?" Louis asked, cigarette in hand as Niall lit it for him. He smirked as he placed it up to his mouth and drew in a breath, and it wasn't just the secondhand smoke that made me want to gag. "Well, thanks to your drunken ass I quite easily found out that Miss Sasha Frei is a lying bitch. That girl doesn't even have her background story figured out, much less a plan of action. She isn't a threat." I explained, laughing at the fact that I actually had to deal with her improvised story. New liars always made me laugh a little, it was so innocent and cute to see them struggling. I would much rather see their true colors, however. Even if that subject wasn't so amusing.
"I'm glad you two got along." Louis smiled and Niall laughed. It was funny how Louis took the role as the drunk one in the whole extravaganza when in fact I imagine that Niall could have done a much better job. Too bad the poor thing seemed to be a little too truthful under pressure. Two years ago at the company Christmas party, Niall downed a few glasses of eggnog and ended up announcing to the whole staff that he was in love with Marlee. Of course we had to tell everyone it wasn't true, even though that same night I faintly remember the two walking back to Marlee's apartment together. Strange to think their whole relationship began with Niall getting drunk. But hey, he was Irish.
"Yes well I imagine that we will be very good friends. Now, what did you two manage to understand while you missed most of dinner? I'd say it was extremely rude if it wasn't for the fact that you were getting some dirt on the dirty liar." I spoke. Louis tensed up a bit as he walked in front of Niall and I. He still didn't seem to be comfortable with the way I was talking about his girlfriend, but it was fun so I didn't mind. I could apologize later, if he really needed it.
"Well thanks to Niall for grabbing her phone so discreetly while we argued, we were able to gather that she has been in communication with a few people that could give us a lead. One was texting her in Russian, so neither of us could decipher it. But another spoke about codes, money, and a meeting place." Louis explained and I wish I could've been there to help them understand what the Russian one was saying. With our luck it was probably important, but nevertheless what they had gotten from the other number was good enough.
"We suspect that she is more of a middleman than anything else. Meaning that her connection to the case is limited; she probably has no idea what the codes she is passing on are for. But, it is still enough to get us closer to whoever is leading this operation. We copied down the number as well and Drew is tracing it now." Niall continued feeding me the information as we walked. I was still cold from before and the foggy atmosphere wasn't doing me any good, but at least I was moving. Thinking itself was a good distraction from the cold, maybe that was why Russians were so damn smart. Well, all except for Sasha Frei.
