We decided to separate and look for Drew, or just whoever we could find that could have anything to do with the suspicious gunshot. I wasn't so apt about leaving Louis, because out of all of us he'd have the most trouble defending himself. When the night was over I'd have to remind myself to teach him to shoot a gun. At least the boy could run.

Niall seemed confident in that the gunshot came from the western wing of the building, so he and I looked there. However, sounds often echoed and amplified in old buildings, much like the one we were in. So, Marlee and Louis went to the eastern wing of the building. Between the large ballroom in the center, there were small private rooms and bathrooms on both sides of the building up two stories. It didn't seem like there was that much to check, but that also meant a quicker escape plan for whoever shot the gun.

I cleared one of the small rooms easily, because there was nothing in it. I made sure to leave the door open to all the rooms that were clear, and soon enough all the ones on the west second floor were checked and clear. I did one last wrap around, struggling in my heels, and then decided the floor was clear. Heading back down, I looked for Niall. I called out for him and popped my head into a few rooms, even the men's restroom, but there was no sign of him. Although Niall could certainly handle himself, I was worried.

I decided to go over to the east wing with the west completely barren. I started opening doors and looking for anyone, not just Niall or Drew. Once I had gone through a whole hall I finally started to feel alone. Even with the hundreds of people just a corner away, everyone I had trusted had disappeared.

It was when I turned the corner to reach the first hall when I started to hear voices. Someone muttered "Oh God" from a distance while another asked "How the hell did this happen?"

It was good to hear the voices of Marlee and Louis. Recognizing their voices convinced me the hall was clear and I was able to casually make my way around the corner, only loosely handling the pistol now. Louis was standing in the doorway and at my vantage point from about three doors down that was all I could see. My only hope was that Niall was with them, and Drew as well.

I walked over towards Louis and about three steps away I finally caught his attention. His face was flushed and he looked upset. Even as he turned around, he made sure to block me from passing through the doorway. He maneuvered himself in such a way that I couldn't even see anything passed him except for the tops of the ripping wallpaper on the walls of the barely lit room.

"What are you doing Louis?" I asked him impatiently. He didn't answer me quickly, meaning he was coming up with a lie. Not only was I impatient, I was getting to be pissed off, not to mention worried out of my mind.

"Louis, you better move the fuck out of my way." I threatened him with absolute certainty in my voice. He almost looked sympathetic to me as we stood in silence, waiting for his mind to come up with a lie still. He started rubbing the back of his head with his hand but quickly pushed his palm back up against the frame of the doorway to block my point of view. I could hear voices in the background but they could barely get passed the yelling in my head.

I had one solution to it all and although I might end up feeling bad for it later, it was what needed to be done. It wasn't like Louis knew what he was doing anyway, and he absolutely had no control over me if that was what he was thinking. So, I kicked him in the balls and within seconds he was crouching down on the ground, muttering cuss words under his breath as he left the doorway open finally.

Louis quickly became the last of my thoughts then. Marlee was in the corner of the room, talking to someone on her cell, most likely the paramedics or some doctor of some sort. Niall was sitting on the ground, and there beside him was Drew. He looked almost ghostly: his skin was pale and the only movement he made was when his body began to shake as he coughed up blood. It was horrible, but it wasn't what I had expected to see.
