Love Yourself (sonnet)

You tell me to be myself, so I do.
Taking off the mask, letting me shine bright.
However, that is not enough for you.
Your judgements make it hard to sleep at night.

I think, "What hardships will come tomorrow?"
And I prepare to hide behind the mask.
I'm not ready again for this sorrow,
For to hide myself is not my life's task.

"Who cares what society thinks?" you say.
I did. I cared what they all thought of me.
No more mask, I do not need it today.
I can be myself. I'm finally free.

'Cause howe'er you make me feel in this hell,
Know that you can't stop me loving myself.
