No one really knew what to say as they walked quietly towards the café. There was an unasked question that all of them knew needed an answer.If Mingyu was a son of Aphrodite, how could he control fire? Not only that, but he had always been good at building and fixing things, despite his tendency to also break said things. Could he be a son of Hephaestus instead? None of this made sense.The six of them went up to order their stuff before going off and choosing a table in the back where no one would be able to overhear them, even though there were only about four other people in the café. "How did you do that Mingyu-hyung?" Jungkook asked. He made sure his voice was low enough that no one in the café, bar the rest of their table, could hear him."What do you mean Jungkook-ah?" Mingyu asked in reply, although everyone could see in his eyes that he knew exactly what Jungkook meant."I mean, how did you summon fire back there if you are a son of Aphrodite?" Jungkook reiterated. "I...I don't know to be honest. I've only ever done it once before and that was when I was out with Vernon and Dino and something happened. I saw them in danger and I felt something inside me flare up and I just had to protect them. The same thing happened just now. I saw you all in danger and my protective side took over. I couldn't let anything happen to you all. I don't know exactly how to control it." Mingyu replied, now looking down and playing with his fingers. "Mingyu-hyung? Look at me." Minghao said gently. Mingyu looked up at his hyung, not saying a word. "Why did you never tell the rest of us?" He asked calmly. Mingyu bit his lip slightly before speaking again. "I was scared." Mingyu replied, his voice barely audible, but the rest of them heard him just fine."Scared of what hyung?" Jungkook asked curiously. "None of your members would judge you for this. We certainly won't. It's a part of who you are, just like Taehyungie-hyung's wings are part of him." He said. Mingyu looked at him."I'm not scared of you guys or the rest of my members. I'm scared of my powers." He clarified. "I don't know how to control them. That is what scares me. I don't want to hurt any of you accidentally while using them." He admitted. All of them looked at him and smiled fondly."Mingyu-yah, with what you have told us and what we saw, I doubt you could. You said that they activate to protect us, not to hurt us." DK said, a look of understanding on his face. "If you or your powers wanted to hurt us, they would have done so already." "But what if-" Mingyu began, but Minghao cut him off."Hyung, I noticed that they seemed to actually avoid all of us and solely focus in on the minotaur. It was almost like they knew who was the enemy and who to keep safe." Minghao said."I agree with Minghao-yah. They seem to be almost sentient for some reason." Yugyeom said."The real question is why you have these powers if you are a son of Aphrodite." BamBam said."I honestly don't know. But I am going to find out." Mingyu said, determination clear on his face. The others smiled at his expression, then decided to save the rest of this discussion for another day.
*Later – BTS dorm (dinner)*
Jungkook had been thinking about the discussion he had with the other '97-liners.about Mingyu's powers ever since he got home. Maybe his hyungs would have some ideas or know something that they might have overlooked. He called Mingyu to ask for his permission to ask his hyungs if they knew anything or had any ideas, and Mingyu had granted it to him, also wanting to know more.So, there Jungkook was, sitting quietly at the table with his hyungs, waiting for the conversation to die down enough so that he could speak up. He only realised he had actually zoned out after he heard Jin calling his name."Kookie? You're being unusually quiet. Is something on your mind?" Jin asked kindly. By this point, all his hyungs had stopped eating and were now looking at him. He thought for a moment, trying to think of exactly how to phrase his question."What would you do if you had a friend who you, and he, all thought he was a son of Aphrodite but he actually had abilities suggesting otherwise?" He asked. All his hyungs looked at him and then at each other in shock and confusion at this question. "What do you mean by 'abilities suggesting otherwise'?" Namjoon asked after a short pause (which, to Jungkook, felt like an eternity, although it could have been only a few seconds)."Like, he has all the traits and abilities of a son of Aphrodite, but is also really good at fixing and building things, even if he is somewhat clumsy and breaks said things, and he can shoot flames from his hands." Jungkook explained. His hyungs were silent for a moment, all looking like they were trying to think of possible reasons, but also slightly shocked as to what Jungkook had just revealed. Suddenly, Namjoon spoke up."I might have an idea. It's a long shot and it is also unbelievably rare, and I'd have to do a bit more research on it." He said."What is it hyung?" Jungkook asked anxiously. "There are two possibilities I am thinking of. Keep in mind that both are incredibly rare and have only happened a handful of times in the eons the Gods and Goddesses have existed. The first possibility is that he could be a child of two Gods, in this case Aphrodite and, most likely, Hephaestus if the flames and fixing and building things are to go by, or he could be a child of Aphrodite but blessed by Hephaestus as well for some reason." Namjoon suggested."Wouldn't that make him a full god, not a demigod hyung?" Jimin asked for clarification."It would, but he doesn't seem to be more powerful than any other demigod." Jungkook replied."I'll do some more research and we'll see what comes up." Namjoon told him. "Who is it if I may ask?""Kim Mingyu from SEVENTEEN." Jungkook revealed. "When I was out with the other '97 liners today we ran into a minotaur and Mingyu used his powers against it. We discussed it afterwards and couldn't come up with any concrete explanations so I asked him if I could ask you and see if you came up with any ideas and he agreed." Jungkook explained."You did what?!" Jin exclaimed, shocked at the revelation."It's alright Jin-hyung. We destroyed it and we're all ok. A few bruises maybe, but otherwise we're alright." Jungkook said, calming down a lecture before it began. Obviously not impressed, but deciding to let it go, Jin decided not to question him further."Alright, here's what we'll do. I'll contact Mingyu and tell him my theories and ask if he wants me and maybe Wonwoo-yah and Minghao-yah to do some further research on the topic to see if it might be correct." Namjoon stated. Everyone agreed with this plan before then deciding to go back to their meal before it got cold. None of them wanted a scolding from Jin for letting his cooking go cold and uneaten.
