*Later – The Next Morning*
Today was the day.
Namjoon had received a call from Seungcheol the previous afternoon to notify him that Seungkwan had had a vision of where the battle would take place. It was almost as if Jimin's feeling was a warning of what was to come, confirmed by Seungkwan's vision. According to Seungkwan's vision, the battle would take place in the mountains just surrounding Donghae, just less than 3 hours' drive West of Seoul. As soon as BTS found out, all of them relayed the message to the rest of the demigods who would be involved in the battle against Tartarus. Since the only information they had was the day and the place, all of them headed towards the location as early as possible on the day so as not to miss it and be there to help when needed. They decided to meet somewhere just outside the city, but where they would still be able to find each other.
*Later that day – outside Donghae, South Korea*
All the demigods had congregated outside Donghae and had set up various tents for different purposes in preparation for the battle. One of these was an infirmary tent as they knew the battle was going to be messy and they would need somewhere for any injured demigods to recover adequately. Many of the demigod children-of-Apollo had been tasked as medics, while some others had been sent out to patrol the forest to keep a lookout for Tartarus and/or his oncoming forces.
Those who were in the "strategizing tent" had been planning on how they were going to get Tartarus to the Underworld and strategies to defeat the oncoming monsters, information they would then relay to all the other demigods. They had been told that the Gods and Goddesses would take care of Tartarus in the Underworld, but they (the demigods) were not too sure when and how much the Gods and Goddesses would help them in their battle against Tartarus. At this point, because they didn't know when their help would come, they had all agreed only to rely on each other.
Kihyun was one of the lookouts at the moment, sitting on a large rock in the middle of the forest, looking out over the mountains. It had been very calming for him and he was grateful for that. A few minutes later, he heard footsteps and a stick crack as whoever it was moved. He immediately spun around only to be faced with Yoongi. Kihyun sighed in relief at the sight of Yoongi with his hands raised in a "it's ok, I'm not here to hurt you" motion.
"Yoongi-hyung! How is everything going planning?" Kihyun asked curiously.
"It seems to be going well Kihyun-ah, but I decided to go on lookout duty." Yoongi explained calmly, sitting down on the large rock next to the younger demigod. "There is only so much I can do as a son-of-Morpheus." He replied, shrugging his shoulders slightly, almost as if he had voluntarily elected to come and join him on lookout duty. Kihyun didn't pry though.
"Hyung, the fact that Morpheus is your father is no hinderance on how you are as a person." Kihyun began. "You're more talented than you believe. You're extremely intelligent, your talent for music is unique, you're one of the best basketball players I've ever met, and you are an indescribably caring person, even if you don't always show it." He said kindly, winking playfully when he finished. This elicited a grateful smile from his hyung.
"Thank you Kihyun-ah. That is really sweet of you." Yoongi replied
"To be honest, I sometimes question my place as well. Echoing what you said, 'there's only so much you can do as a child-of-Demeter'." Kihyun said. Yoongi raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"Do you need me to give you the same pep-talk you just gave me Kihyun-ah?" Yoongi asked, his voice a mixture of mildly teasing but also borderline-serious. Kihyun shook his head, silently refusing his hyung's half-serious offer. "Your mother is the Goddess of agriculture, don't underestimate the damage plants can do if the need arises."
Before either of them could say another word, they both felt and heard something. Their eyes scanned the forest. They both paled as they saw an army-worth of monsters running towards them. They were far enough away that they looked almost like ants, but both Yoongi and Kihyun knew they needed to let everyone know before it was too late.
"Hyung, run and tell everyone that the monsters are coming. I'll stay here and fend them off as best as I can for now." Kihyun all-but ordered Yoongi. A millisecond later, Yoongi had sprinted off in the direction of their camp to warn everyone.*Location change – demigod camp*
Now, Yoongi was not a person who was overly-active aside from what he usually did as an idol or occasionally playing basketball with friends. This time though, he knew that he had never run so fast in his life but he was not going to stop until he had warned everyone. He felt bad for leaving Kihyun alone but telling no one would be far worse. As he ran up towards the camp, he began yelling to get whoever's attention he could possibly get.
"THEY'RE COMING!!! MONSTERS ARE ON THEIR WAY!!!" He screamed. Demigods began exiting their various tents and coming up to him. He slowed down to a stop once he reached everyone, panting as he did so. BamBam was the first to reach him.
"Hyung, what is it?" He asked seriously, knowing that Yoongi wouldn't be like this if everything was alright.
"I was with Kihyun-ah, we were talking, but then we spotted monsters heading our way. He decided to stay but told me to run and tell everyone." Yoongi explained in-between catching his breath. Namjoon then spoke up, his facial expression and voice turning full 'leader' mode.
"Dino-yah, Yeosang-ah, go and assist Kihyun-ah. North lookout-post." He told the two.
"Yes hyung." Both Dino and Yeosang said in unison before sprinting off towards Kihyun. He then looked around at the other demigods. "Everyone else, battle stations, it's now or never." He said with an unmatchable finality present in his tone.
