A/N: A small reminder peeps! As the story goes from here, I will be showing more of the relationship between Yuzu and his mother.
So just as I wrote in the Intro, this is in no way based on his actual, lovely mum. Its a fictional character that I made up to fit the story I am trying to tell.

PS: We are now finally in the first half of the book!!

______________

Yuzuru was sitting on the bed, stretched against the headboard, and was watching Sophie tossing around with a small smirk playing on his lips.
Once again, she was getting closer and closer to him and he was now timing how long it will take before she once more wraps her arms around him.

And there it was. Her hand slapped his stomach and she hooked it over his hip and pulled herself onto him, muttering something inaudible.
He sighed and as many times before, stood up, went around the bed, and lied down to the now free spot.
She stayed motionless for several minutes until she turned on her back, then on her side, and repeated the process. And he did as well.
Because one thing was when she hugged him fully awake and conscious about her actions but he did not want to risk she would wake up and think it was him who pulled her onto him.
No matter how much he would like to do that.
Now he needed to be as careful as possible not to mess up even more. Threading around her as lightly as he could.

The sun was fully up and soaking up into her bare arms, shimmering like gold on her face and he was slowly going with his eyes over those places in wonder. He marveled at the softness of her skin, the ink that was decorating her body, and quietly sighed when he recalled the tattoo she had on her left ribs. The one he came back to kiss over and over again that night in Japan.
Oh, how he wished to go back to that moment. And leave when she asked him to leave. And take Tamiko as far from that place as he could.

Yuzuru closed his eyes and slid lower, resting his head on the pillow and when Sophie moved closer again, he stayed where he was. He could feel the warmth of her body as if it would be reflecting the warmth of her personality. As if the Sun itself picked her as its favorite object to direct its attention to even in winter.
She was nothing like Tamiko or at least the version Tamiko presented herself with. Sophie was to him the very opposite. Having no issue approaching him right on his first day in Japan to ask about the skates she picked for Akira. Laughing out loud when she was happy. Raising her voice when angry. Calling him an idiot when he behaved like one.
And unlike Tamiko, being completely oblivious to the fact he has feelings for her.

It still pained him to look at her in the cafe when he had that spot linked with most of his regrets. And it hurt him, even more, when she was now constantly trying to wrap her arms around him, not knowing to whom she is doing it, just wanting somebody to hug.
He wondered when did that start for her. Did she have a favorite plush toy as a kid, cuddling with it when she was sleeping alone and scared of the dark? Or was it only later on when she met Akio? Or with Aki?

Yuzuru felt pressure on his stomach and slowly cracked his eyes open, realizing he has as well fallen asleep. His vision was blurry and he rubbed his eyes, immediately covering his mouth not to laugh.

Well, that's a new one.

He thought, looking at Sophie lying across the bed with her head on his stomach and her arms wrapped underneath him as if his belly was a pillow.
A mischievous grin crossed his face and he pulled in his stomach muscles and watched as she frowned when the imaginary pillow of hers became harder.
With his hand still over his mouth to stay quiet, he relaxed the muscles again and just as his belly softened, Sophie's expression did as well.
Yuzuru put his hands behind his head and bit his lip, repeating the process of teasing her like that a few more times until he didn't manage to suppress a chuckle and Sofie wiggled in the spot.
