1200 BC - ITALY
Luca had lost the track of time when he opened his eyes again, after the atrocious pain he felt. With a groan, he forced himself to sit up, blinking slowly. Everything his eyes touched seemed clearer and brighter. He could see everything around him, from the insect on the grass, to the dust moving in the air. Luca, hearing someone walking closer to him, jerked his head quickly towards that direction.
"Good thing you aren't human anymore, your jaw would be sore from all the yelling you did. You are an annoying one, isn't that right?" A dark-haired man smirked in Luca's direction, leaning against a tree in a cocky stance.
"What have you done to me?" Luca whimpered weakly, suddenly holding his neck with both of his hands. His throat was burning and he craved for something.
That was when he realized.
Luca became one of the blood drinking monsters.
"Ah, I think you know," Amos smiled, amused by the newborn. The boy was his only hope to get to his mate now. And he would do anything to have her. "You must be thirsty?" Against his will, Luca's head bopped up and down eagerly. The red eyes man grinned and disappeared. Luca stayed on the ground. He didn't know how to feel. He was smelling so many things, and seeing things he hadn't seen before, but one thing stand out.
The delicious perfume of blood.
Seconds later, Amos came back, carrying a body on his shoulder. To Luca's horror, it was the limp body of a woman, one of the two women who talked with Anastasia after his brothers' death.
"I was hungry and couldn't restrain myself from tasting the other one. They have a delicious smell, I couldn't resist. I'm sure you'll like it," Amos laughed at Luca's disgusted face. The young man was hiding his mouth, his eyes filled with tears that would never fall. "She called you a brat, now it is time to take your revenge. You will not be able to resist it much longer anyway," The man cruelly smiled before leaving Luca to himself, well, with the dead woman.
Covering his nose and his mouth to prevent himself for drinking her blood, Luca closed his eyes tightly, trying to forget that awful image from his memory. However, it didn't last long as the smell of blood became too much. The young man was not used to that flagrance and with the growing burnt of his throat, he couldn't resist anymore. Speeding besides her body, he grabbed her arm and sank his teeth into it, sighing contently when the blood flowed down his throat. For a few seconds, Luca was able to forget who he was feeding from, a poor woman from his former village. When he realized he was done with his... meal, he let the limb arm fell down on the ground with a thud.
He couldn't realize he had done it. Yes, the woman was already dead, but he used her to appease his thirst. Luca wanted to throw up. But surprisingly, he was still hungry for the red liquid. An amused chuckle took him of his thoughts.
"Had a good meal?" Amos was back with that same smirk, the one that Luca wanted to punch so badly. The newborn didn't respond as he stared at the person behind Amos, her arms tied together and around a chair.
Anastasia.
"What have you done to her?" Luca was slowly getting pissed with the man before him. He wanted nothing more than chop his head off his body.
"Me?" He laughed. "I did nothing. What will you do, is the appropriate question," Amos took a few steps back, spinning on his heals to look at the old woman. Anastasia seemed fine, she wasn't looking at her old acquaintance. Amos got angered at that, that she wasn't paying attention on him. The vampire cradled her face softly with one of his hands, making her flinch away from his cold touch. Amos ignored it and turned her head carefully so she would look at him.
"Why have you turned him? From all the people, why him?" Anatasia started crying quietly, staring at the man with rage shining through her eyes. She had a small idea about why Amos chose him, but she didn't want to accept the truth.
"Isn't it obvious, darling? I want you," Without explaining further, he walked behind her and made sure the woman was looking directly at Luca. "Now you have two choices ; I can either change you now and we'll be together, with Luca, forever, or I'll let your grandson drink every drop of blood from your body," Luca's eyes widened at that. "It's simple, there's nothing holding you back to the human world now," Amos motioned to Luca. "I can give you anything you want, my love, you just need to say yes."
"I didn't say yes the first time, and my answer is the same. I refuse to become like you, Amos," Anastasia spat, moving against the rope that was restraining her. Amos hummed as Luca could see the pained look on his face. However, he quickly masked it when he noticed the young man was looking at him. Frowning in anger, he growled angrily.
"I can't believe you would do that," Amos kneeled besides the woman, making her look at him with a cold stare. "You are ready to let your grandson kill you just because you don't want to be a vampire?"
A vampire. A blood drinking monster. That was Luca's life now.
Anastasia didn't answer him, instead looking at the newborn.
"Luca, please..." She pleaded. Without questioning her further, Luca speeded besides his grandmother, tackling the man with a force he wasn't aware of. He sent Amos a few hundred of meters away from them.
"I will grant your last wish, Ana. I love you so much," Luca whispered the last part, Anastasia's blood becoming too much for his newborn condition.
"I love you too, my dear. I hope you'll be happy with your new life," She pressed a shaky kiss on the top of his head and that was the last push. Luca grabbed the woman's arm and sank his teeth into it. "My brave boy..." She whispered before closing her eyes peacefully. The young man's mind was blind except the delicious feeling that was running down his throat. When Anastasia was dry from the red liquid, Luca let the arm fell down into its place. Looking up at his grandmother, he began dry sobbing, wiping his mouth furiously as he couldn't believe he had done it.
He really was a monster.
The only reassuring thought that crossed Luca's mind was that he respected Anastasia's last wish. This was what she wanted.
A gush of wind made him look up, but he couldn't clearly see as venom filled his eyes.
"YOU KILLED MY MATE," Amos roared, taking the newborn's collar in his hand, lifting him up.
"You pushed her to her death," Luca whimpered, not debating himself from the vampire's hold. Amos then slammed the young man into a tree, holding him up by his neck. It made a glass breaking sound and that was what made Luca snap.
The vampire in front of him was the cause of Anastasia's death. She wouldn't have wanted Luca to waste his life.
Wrapping his hands tightly around Amos' neck, Luca escaped the older man's hold and brought him to his knees. Amos quickly realized the newborn's intention and tried to claw his hands away from his throat, but his strength was nothing compared to Luca's.
The young man had never felt more satisfaction than what he was feeling right now. The ripping and glass shattering sound was music to his ears as he let Amos' head fall to the ground. The older vampire's body sloppily fell but Luca didn't spare him another glance. He quickly picked Anastasia up before speeding away.
