1200 BC - ITALY
The new family arrived where Luca's transition happened. There was remaining spots of the victims' blood on the grass, but except of that, nothing had changed. Amos' body was no where in sight.
"I thought I had dealt with him," Luca's voice quivered slightly. He wanted nothing to do with that horrible man, but with his disappearance, they would probably meet again.
"Don't worry, mio caro [my dear]. We will take care of him when the time is right," Marcus squeezed his newfound son's shoulder soothingly, who nodded swiftly.
"Marcus," Didyme whispered lowly, making a small motion with her head to lead him away from Luca. The young man understood they wanted to talk alone so he walked away too. Without meaning too, he was closer and closer to his former village. He heard people's voice and cries.
"Hector left! We haven't seen him for the past days," A man informed someone else.
"I don't understand. He left without saying anything, he haven't even taken his belongings with him," Another one spoke. Luca could hardly hear anything else. His father left? Why? And when? He couldn't stop the overwhelming thoughts from taking over his head. What if Hector found him? Even with his newborn condition, his father scared him. He thought he killed his brothers. The village probably knew about Anastasia's death too. Everything was against him.
On the other side of the forest, Marcus and Didyme spoke quietly together.
"How do you think your brothers would react if we brought Luca to Volterra? Would they accept him? You know how Aro is when a newborn doesn't have a gift. He will send him away," Didyme worried out loud, pacing in front of her husband.
"We don't know if Luca has a gift or not. And if he doesn't have one, I'll make sure Aro see how much Luca means to us already. I will not let him send him away, I promise you, mio amore [my love]," Marcus cupped his wife's face softly and pressed a loving kiss upon her lips. Melting into her lover's arms, Didyme lost herself into the kiss, her gift sending waves of pure happiness to her mate.
"We can deal with Aro, but what about Caius? You know how he can be with strangers," It was true, Marcus' soul brother was one to always be wary of everyone.
"I'll handle him. If Aro is on our side, we'll be fine. The three of us are co-leaders, he can't just banish him," The king reassured her. "I'm pretty sure we can get Athenodora to make him agree," He smirked.
"Stop with that dirty mind of yours, Marcus," Didyme slapped his chest playfully with the back of her hand before glancing at Luca to make sure he haven't heard something. Her mate only raised his hands in surrender, chuckling softly.
The couple walked closer to the newborn when they realized he was listening to the villagers. Didyme took him out of his trance as she squeezed his shoulder softly.
