When Erin saw the fire burning in both of their eyes and realised that they wouldn't break apart from anything she said, she found another way to get their attention. Once she found the nearest glass, she grasped it tightly in her hand. Looking at the oblivious girls one last time, she smashed the glass firmly against the table beside her, the sound harshly radiating through the room.
The girls instantly released their deathly hold from each other to look at the threat. However, when they saw the unforgettable face of who they grew up with, they paused entirely. It was clear that the both of them dropped their guard in the way their stares were dumbfounded and captivated.
Erin, ignoring their amazement, took her jacket off and walked over to the kitchen to pour herself a drink, "god, you two are both still so childish."
Apart from the sound of cheap alcohol being poured into a glass, the room was silent. Even when Erin put the glass to her lips and downed the whole thing in one, the girls didnt say anything. It was only when she harshly placed the empty glass down and looked at them that they coughed up a response.
"Erin?" Natasha was the first to ask - to make sure it was real.
"Hey," she managed to say, "Alia."
Yelena looked at Natasha, shocked at how Erin had remembered that after all these years. But when she saw the look on Natasha's face, all she could do was let out one of her classic hearty Russian chuckles. Untangling herself from the curtains that were used to try and kill her a few moments ago, she laughed, "ha! Look at you, you're speechless."
Natasha then snapped out of it, harshly pushing the curtains off of her body so she could stand up, "I'm not speechless, shut up."
But, however, even when she stood up, Natasha did find herself to be speechless. Once Erin had drank the rest of the drink straight from the bottle, she looked at the girls, one hand on her hip and the other one holding her against the table.
"You seem pretty speechless to me," Erin shrugged.
Yelena laughed to herself and made her way over to Erin, wrapping her in a hug without wasting a second, "I've missed you Erin."
It didnt take a thought for Erin to hug her back, "I've missed you too, Yelena."
While her head rested on Yelena's shoulder, Erin looked over at Natasha to find her already looking back. Their eyes met, and for a moment Erin wondered if Natasha wished it was her arms she was encased in.
When Yelena pulled out of the hug, she still had a smile on her face, "how have you been? What happened to you after... you know?"
"I joined SHIELD," she nonchalantly answered.
"Oh," yelena nodded, "so you probably know about us, I don't need to tell you that."
"Yeah, we don't need to go into that," Erin assured her, mostly to save the two of them from having to delve into something majorly traumatic for the sake of her own understanding.
The room fell to a silence once again as Yelena ran out of things to say. She knew that if she didnt talk, the silence would become unbearable because neither of the other girls would communicate. Luckily, she knew this moment must've been difficult for them, so she didnt push for them to adapt as quickly as she did.
"Quite the reunion, huh?" She rocked back and forth on her heel as she said.
"Why are you here?" Natasha finally spoke. It came across rude and demanding, but everyone in the room know it was out of shock.
Erin's eyes gladly returned to Natasha now that they had an excuse to, "to save you. The whole of SHIELD is after your ass, you do realise that, don't you? After the mess you pulled in Germany, I'm surprised they haven't gotten to you already."
"You're SHIELD," she shrugged, "you here to kill me too?"
"Did you not just here me say I'm about to save you?" She reminded her.
"Save me?" She hummed.
"You're lucky I got here before they did," she told her, pacing around the apartment to find the closet. When she found it, she slipped off her jeans and put on a pair of cargo pants before taking off her shirt to replace it with something else.
"Why are you choosing to save me when it risks your job?" Natasha asked, mindlessly following Erin into the room to continue with the conversation before she realised that Erin was topless. Of course, Erin didnt care about the fact that she was walking around in nothing but her black bra, but Natasha found herself, once again, speechless and staring at her.
Erin didnt realise she was being watched until she slipped a white vest over herself and turned back around. She almost froze when she saw how Natasha was looking at her, but she cleared her throat to not let it distract her from why she was actually there.
"Because I'm a nice person?" She suggested while throwing on a bomber jacket, trying to cover up the real answer, which was something along the lines of: because I love you. Because I've dedicated my entire life to watching over you. Because I'd kill anyone who has ever and will ever hurt you.
After saying that, Erin attempted to leave the room, but couldn't get past Natasha until her wrist was caught in her hand and she was pulled back, "why are you really doing this?"
"I told you once, I'm not going to say it again," she stared harshly into her eyes. There were mere inches between the two. Erin's breath was angry and heavy, while Natasha couldn't quite make out why she was loving having Erin be so close to her. The two of them were pressed together in the small frame of the doorway as Erin warned her, "now get your hand off me before I make you."
Natasha's eyes stared directly into Erin's, not knowing why she couldn't pull them away. Her hand stayed wrapped around her wrist, and she just looked at her. That was, until Yelena spoke up and they realised that she'd been standing there the whole time.
"Wow, the sexual tension," Yelena hummed. When both girls turned their heads to look at her, she shrugged and held her hands up, "I mean, I wouldn't know what its like, but if I had to take a guess, then I'd say this is it."
Erin tugged her wrist out of Natasha's grasp and gave her one last death stare before entering a room further down the hall to retrieve the weapons she needed. When Erin was hidden away, Yelena stood in front of Natasha, forcing her to take her eyes away from where Erin was.
"Wow, did I miss something between you two?" She asked.
Natasha shook her head, "what are you talking about?"
"You turn to stone around her, you can't stop looking at her," Yelena listed, "you seriously don't realise how much you're freezing up? Wow, Natasha. You've lost your edge."
"Shut up, Yelena," she scoffed before brushing past her and heading to the weapons room.
