I sat on the edge of my bed, staring at the wall. I had been waiting for the past hour for one of the guys to let me know what time we could hang out. Finally, my phone lit up.

Corey: Alright. My house at 3. Everybody good with that?

I decided I should probably go ask my mom if I could go. I got up off my bed and made my way downstairs to the kitchen, where my mom was cleaning. "Hey mom, can I go hang out with my friends?" I asked. I haven't told her that they're all guys yet. I'd rather her meet them in person so hopefully she won't freak out about me being the only girl in the group. "I'd rather you not. Stay home today, okay?" I sighed and nodded. I knew better than to try and argue, since that would only make the situation worse. I went back up to my room and texted the group chat.

Bella: my mom said i cant today. sorry :(

I laid back on my bed and watched TikTok for a while. After about an hour, there was a knock on my door. Before I could say anything, my mom walked in, carrying a Chick-Fil-A bag, (dont come for me ik they're homophobic) an iced vanilla coffee, and a black cat squishmallow. I sat up as she walked over to my bed and handed me the stuff. I looked at her suspiciously. "What's going on?" I asked her. "Just.. eat your lunch and come downstairs when you're finished. I nodded as she left my room. I quickly ate my chicken nuggets and picked up my trash. I went downstairs to the kitchen and threw away the empty bag, then made my way into the dining room. I sat down at the dining room table, across from where my parents sat. "Sweetie, we have some news for you." my mom said. I sucked in my breath, preparing for the worst. "We've decided to take in a couple of foster kids." Oh. I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding.

I tried to calm my racing heart down as I listened to my parents give the whole "we still love you and we're not going to treat you like you're any less important" speech for what felt like forever. Finally, we heard the doorbell ring. Saved by the bell, literally. My heart began to speed up again as my mom went to answer it. Alright Bells, in for 4, out for 8. I thought to myself. A few minutes later, my mom returned with a DHS worker and two girls, both of them younger than me. "Hello, my name is Emily. I'm the case worker for these two girls." the DHS worker-Emily-greeted me and my dad. "This is Rylee, she's 12, and Bailey, 6." she said. I could tell they were sisters at first glance. Rylee had dirty blonde hair and blue eyes, and Bailey was pretty much a carbon copy of her. The only difference was that Rylee had glasses. "Hi, my name's Bella." I said to them. Bailey waved shyly in response, while Rylee didn't respond at all. "Why don't we show the girls around the house?" my mom asked. I agreed and followed her as she showed them around. We went upstairs and showed them their rooms, which they loved. Bailey's room was painted pink, while Rylee's was blue. Apparently my parents had gone toy shopping, since I had never seen half of the toys in their rooms.

Finally, we had to show them the only room we hadn't shown them yet, which happened to be my room. I was asked about a million questions like "how did you get so many stuffed animals?" and "why is there a scary skull on that poster?" I explained that the stuffed animals were mainly from when I was little, and that the skull poster was from a band called Misfits. I secretly hoped that they wouldn't ask to hear anything by them, because I wasn't about to get in trouble for teaching them songs with profanity. Luckily, we had to go back downstairs and talk with Emily, so there weren't any further questions about my music taste. "You have pretty hair." Rylee said quietly as we were going downstairs. "Aw, thank you. I just did it the other night." I said. My hair was supposed to be teal, but somehow I did something wrong and it came out looking more green. But it's okay, I still like it. I dyed it while we were on a group facetime call. Well, more like they called me while I was in the middle of bleaching it.

We talked with Emily for a few minutes before walking her to the door. I began to get a little nervous as she left, as what we were doing hit me. I had been an only child my whole life, I don't know how to be an older sister. Maybe I'll ask the guys for advice. I know at least 3 of them have younger siblings. We all sat in the living room and talked with Bailey and Rylee. We asked them all sorts of stuff, like what their favorite shows and movies were, their favorite restaurants, their favorite music. I got a little nervous when the music question was brought up, but luckily nobody asked me what I listen to. After just 5 minutes, I could already tell a lot about their personalities. Bailey was definitely more outgoing, while Rylee was more quiet and reserved. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and decided to text the gang. I figured I should warn them that I won't be able to go anywhere except for school for the next week or so, and I also really wanted to tell them about Rylee and Bailey because, well, I was excited. And also internally freaking out because I need older sibling advice. I sighed and opened Snapchat, trying to use my non-existent conversation skills to tell them what was going on.

A/N: aaa i finally got this chapter out. I've had it written down but I've had no motivation to type it into wattpad plus my allergies were kicking my ass last week lol.
