"Hi!" Jeno enthusiastically approached, dropping his black duffle bag under the seat. "How are you?"
"Better," Eula said with a tight smile, "though I'm not sure if I can handle the pressure."
"What do you mean you can't? You're the best out there."
"The whole class is expecting me to win that trophy. We are undefeated because of Hayoung. But because..." she sighed, dropping her words and getting back to one of the few books laid on the long table.
Jeno frowned, his jet black hair still damp and his long-grown bangs blocking his eyes. He looked at the entirety of the library, silent and deserted.
It's almost 7 p.m., not long after his coach dismissed the team. He left the girl by 4:30, and hours later, she's still warily stuck on the same spot with more books.
He heavily sighed, placing a hand on the current page she's reading, making her flinch and get distracted.
"Jen.."
"You're preparing for the whole month. Never did I see you resting, please, Eul."
Eula's shoulders slumped more and she dropped her head on the male's hand, mumbling something.
"You're saying?" he peeked through, inching his face closer to her.
"I'm hungry"
He lightly laughed, gathering enough strength to push her head up until she was sitting properly again.
"Let's eat dinner at your favorite chicken place."
Lots of mornings and nights came through, and a whole month had already passed.
The university held their pride up again, and neither of them saw Hayoung nor Mark.
At first, Eula is on the verge of breaking down. She once tried to call the teacher, but she was directed to voicemail. She called twice, and the call was purposely dropped. Three, and the number doesn't exist.
She felt her heart swelling and cracking in pain for the whole week. Her state is as bad as those times Mark roughly handled her in bed, but the difference is that the man is only in her memories.
She hasn't visited the family house either, though her mother called her, checking up on her every time she got the chance.
The merging of both parties was directed on hold. Her parents strictly forbidding her to get ahold of the business' status.
Their marriage contract is also cancelled.
The only thing that's connecting her to Mark's family is Jeno.
Her parents had once consulted her about the young male, almost forbidding her to stay with him, but as magical as it could be, Jeno had proven himself trustworthy.
Their relationship remained friendly. Maybe best friends, close friends, soulmates– neither of them touched any of those topics.
