"Soo.. where are we going..?" He was walking so fast I could barely keep up with him, stumbling over every branch and rock in my path. The sunlight streamed through the leaves creating a slightly warped pattern on the forest floor.

"Don't question." Bills words were short and clipped, but he  didn't sound rough like saying something like that might suggest. His voice seemed to always sound slightly musical. How odd. I studied what little bit he could see of his face. He seemed to be deep in thought.

And that's when I tripped. I faceplant onto the slightly damp ground, dirt finding its way into my mouth and in my nose. I groan. My limbs tingle but I move them slightly to make sure they're okay. Yes, they are. And then I become aware of something.

Bill fell down too. He was already getting up. Dirt was streaked across his face and he didn't look too happy about it. But, when he got up, he extended his hand out to me.

"Try to be more careful, pinetree."
His tone sounded soft, a big change for the.. former demon?

He obviously wasn't at his former glory, but was he still a demon?  If he wasn't a demon then, then what was he now?

Bill coughed, startling me out of my thoughts. "Pinetree."

I took his hand and he pulled me up, being suspiciously gentle. He started back up again, but thankfully a little slower this time.

Soon, we reached a clearing. There was a little log cabin at the back edge, and a rock path leading up to it. There was even a little garden.

"This is my house. I found the cabin and made myself at home. But here is where I will teach you most of what you need to know."

And he pulled me into the house.

So, the writing is different. I took tips from a friend, and I hope my story will be more enjoyable from now on.
