We had been walking for a little while without speaking before I broke the ice. "So.. about the questions?" He looked up suddenly.

"Oh yeah, okay. Where did we leave off?" I thought for a second.

"We finished the food question and part of the question about organs. But do we have to breathe?"

"We have to breathe every once in a while, but only about every.. 30 minutes. Less if we're moving a lot." He said it so matter of factly. All traces of the flirty teasing from earlier seemed to be gone. I was really.. disappointed.

"Oh... Not as cool as in the stories, but it makes sense. But why do you think that happens? Do you have any theories?" I had started to ramble a little, so I stopped. Then I noticed he was just.. Staring at me. Directly in the eyes. My face involuntarily flushed. "Why are you staring at me..?" He smiled.

"I just noticed that you get this twinkle in your eyes when you're talking about science and theories. It's really cute.~" I flushed more.

"I- Im not cute! I'm an adult!" Then my face fell. Why was he flirting like this? Could he ever be interested in me? Im not that interesting...

"Whatcha thinking, Pinetree?" I jumped, having gotten lost in my thoughts. I averted my gaze. What if he hadn't changed? What if he was just playing and didn't mean any of it? "Is something wrong?" Surely he couldn't fake the worry in his voice so well, could he?

"Do you really mean it..?" I said almost in a whisper. He looked confused.

"Mean what?" I sighed.

"The compliments, and stuff. You've just been so helpful and friendly to me this whole time, it's... really unlike you. Why are you doing this? Why are you being so nice?!" By the time I finished, I was almost yelling. But I felt a little better. He gently grabbed my face and turned it towards his before releasing my face. I just flushed more.

"I helped you because I was... really lonely. The "friends" I had before, just wanted to help rule the world. They didn't like me for me. They only wanted power. At first, I did too. I didn't care. But after I became a vampire, well... I looked more closely at people. I saw the true friendships and relationships they had, and I was.. jealous. So I decided to train you. Then, after you relaxed a little, I saw... how cute you were, and the way you talked, and I haven't felt that way in a very long time. I think humans call it... love?" He sounded completely and totally sincere. I just stared at him in shock for a minute.

"That was.. a lot to take in. Wait... Did you say you... love me?" That was.. new. I'd never had a relationship the traditional way before. I've only gone on a few dates from tinder match-ups and they never turned out to be more than a date or two. He took my hand gently, startling me out of my thoughts.

"I did. More than anyone ever. Would you... Um..." It looked like he was blushing a little. But surely not... "Would you do me the honor of taking you on an... um..." Was he.. Nervous? "Date?" We had stopped by then, and I took a second to think. I certainly was attracted to him, and he certainly seems like a nice and caring guy now. But that doesn't change the fact that he's Bill fucking Cipher! So I came up with a compromise so I wouldn't hate myself.

"Um... I'd love to go on a d-date with you. But if you haven't changed, this isn't going to work. But I want to believe you have changed. So ill give you one chance." He grinned, but it looked like a very happy one. We started walking again.

"You won't regret this, Pinetree.~ We're going to have so much fun together! Like humans! I already got something right, see?" He squeezed my hand gently.

"Yeah, I g-guess you did." I knew I wasn't doing a good job of playing it cool. I was putty in his hands. He smiled at me, proudly, and I melted.

"So how about I take you out for breakfast tomorrow at Greasy's Diner? A normal breakfast. I'll pay." I didn't want to say anything stupid, so I just nodded enthusiastically. "Great!" Then we realized we reached the clearing where the shack was. "I'll come to get you around 9 tomorrow. I hope you see me in your dreams because I know you'll be in mine.~" He kissed my cheek quickly and then ran away giggling like a little girl. "Byeeee!~"

"B-Bye!" I waved like an idiot until long after he faded from view. Then I headed inside, face red as a tomato. Mabel was waiting just inside the door. I tried to hide my face but she already saw it.

"Oooh~ Someones got a crush~ Whos the lucky one?" I sputtered.

"Mabel! I don't have a crush! Im going to bed." I headed up the stairs, placed the thermos on my bedside table, and collapsed onto my bed. Then I began to sing.

Im not going to make you sit through a chapter of just lyrics to fulfill the fantasy in my head. But I'll add the link at the top of the next chapter. The backup singers are annoying fairies who come in through the window btw. If yall wanna see my interpretation of it I guess I'll make a bonus chapter? I'll make it interesting though. Not just the lyrics.
