Chapter 9 - Something New

(That's the song, it's one of my favorites ever and it just kept running through my head while writing the last few chapters.)

I woke up feeling refreshed and stronger than ever. Then I looked down. Where was my body?! I almost screamed, but I took some deep breaths so I wouldn't alarm anyone else.

  I got up and then I could see my body again. Except... I still couldn't see one arm. Then I had an idea. I moved my arm out of the natural shadows. I could see it again! This must be a vampire thing. I'll ask Bill when he gets here. Oh, speaking of... I checked the time, and it was.. 8:30?! He would probably be here soon!

  I took a really quick shower and blow-dried my hair. I don't like blow drying my hair because it damages it, but I don't want to have wet hair! I brushed my teeth and then had a mini panic attack as I looked in my closet. What would I wear? I sighed. I was going to have to get help from Mabel. I put on boxers and went downstairs to look for her.

  She was in the kitchen, drinking Mabel juice. It's the same as when we were kids, except with a lot more coffee. "Hey, Mabel..." She turned around. The look on her face showed she already knew what I was going to ask.

  "Yessss?" I sighed.

  "Can you help me pick out something to wear? I'm going to breakfast with a friend but you know I'm bad at picking nice outfits." I emphasized the friend part.

  "Right, a friend.." She said very sarcastically. I rolled my eyes at her. "Just come and help me..." She followed me upstairs and helped me pick an outfit.

  I looked in the mirror and smiled. I looked really good. As if on cue, the doorbell rang. I drank the rest of the blood in the thermos. "Dipper! Williams here!" I walked down the stairs and to the front door.

  Bill and Mabel were chatting it up in the doorway. "Oh, yeah, I think ill be here often." Then he saw me and winked, making me blush. He was wearing a button-up that looked like the buttons would burst off at any given moment.

  "Oh hey, Pinetree! You look nice today. Ready to go?" He was so cheery and upbeat today. I blushed a little more and smiled back at him.

  "Y-Yeah, im ready. You look nice too." I took his hand and we walked out the door.

  "Thanks, Pinetree." Once we had gotten a safe distance from the shack, I stopped.

  "Hey, Bill, something strange happened this morning." He looked at me questioningly.

  "Like what?"

  "I woke up and I couldn't see my body. But then when I got up, I could see myself again except for one arm which was still in the room's natural shadow. So I think I became a shadow for a bit or something. Im not sure." He looked at me long and hard, thinking.

  "Oh! I think I know what happened," He said enthusiastically after about 3 minutes of this.

  "What?" I was excited to get answers because that was weird.

  "When you turned, it must have opened up your magic nodes. I always knew you had a lot of potential, kid." I frowned.

  "Potential..? Why would you think that...?" He looked at me, clearly shocked.

  "Pinetree! Have you forgotten all of the wonderful things you did? You saved your sister from the gnomes on your first day, traveled in time, won a time wish, battled against a math wizard, befriended a Multibear, survived an apocalypse, and outsmarted a demon. Plus a lot more! And I bet you've done even more great things since you left Gravity Falls." He hugged me tightly, and only then did I realize I was crying.
