Summary: Louis is the top musical conductor in the country, everyone knows his orchestra. Suddenly one of his best violin players retires and a young messy Harry stumbles his way into Louis' world.
Louis-27, Harry-21
3rd person's pov:
It was a normal day for Louis Tomlinson. Wake up, brush teeth, have breakfast, stretch arms, hands and fingers. Get into the car and drive to the orchestra's training hall. Unload his music sheets, take a few notes, reviewing the sounds in his mind, while he waits for everyone to unpack their instruments.
A normal day.
Until it wasn't anymore.
One of his violinists, one of the former members of the orchestra, chose the moment when Louis was getting his baton ready to announce his retirement. Louis' left eyebrow twitched upon hearing the news but he managed to stay composed. He was always composed in front of everyone, never letting anyone seeing what he was hiding inside. His face always held in a straight line among with the rest of his body.
After going over more details, he found out that he still had a month before one seat in the violin section would be left empty. One month to find a new face. That was of course not up to him, but to his chef leading the orchestra in the legal way (documents, advertising, etc). He could only hope this new coming member wouldn't be his new source of headache.
One month later
Louis was ready with his baton standing in front of the orchestra, his eyes flipping between his note sheets and the empty chair among his other violinists. The new guy should have been there half an hour ago to go over tuning and the day's programme. He was trying to not get it to him but once you work with Louis Tomlinson punctuality should be your priority.
He scanned the stage again, cleared his throat and tapped his baton on the music stand.
Just than a head of unruly curly hair burst through the door, wearing nothing more than a hoodie and a pair of faded jeans, never mind it was the middle of October, papers flying out of the folder stacked under his armpit, his hands full of a violin case.
'I'm so sorry, I know I'm late but I wasn't told with which entrance I should come in and everywhere was closed and I couldn't get in and I'm sorry.' the guy babbled on and on about the reasons he was late.
Louis held up one hand and the stuttering slowly faded away. "Get ready and be on time next time." were the only words that left Louis' mouth before he turned back to his notes.
The new violinist quickly ran up the stage and started getting his instrument ready, greeting everyone around him and introducing himself as Harry. He was ready in no time, rubbing his hands dry and holding up his violin in one hand and his bow in the other.
Louis cleared his throat and spoke up:"We're going through tuning again, warm yourselves up. Then we'll see how much time we've got left before we have to pack up." he said in a cold voice, intentionally directing his last sentence towards his newest member.
...
Louis had to admit that the new guy, Harry, has a talent. He doesn't know if he's even old enough to be out of musical school but his skills are showing otherwise. He didn't get the chance to talk to him after the first time he was late.
He wasn't late after that but he was always the last one to arrive. Louis could only pretend that he didn't want to know why he couldn't just show up earlier.
It's been over two weeks and Louis was just packing up his things after rehearsal, the last of his members saying goodbye when he noticed the music sheets laying on Harry's chair.
