Summary:  Harry comes home from the military to his hubby Louis

Third person's pov:

Seven months fifteen days and eight hours. That's how long it's been since the last time Louis saw his husband, Harry. Harry was always a kind soul, helping and caring for others, rather giving than receiving. So really, Louis shouldn't have been so surprised when he came up with the thought of joining the military three years ago.

At the time they were only married for a few months and since he's left he only came back twice. Yeah, they never celebrated a single anniversary together.

Now when Louis was at the airport again he tried not to think about how his husband will leave again in a few weeks. He loves his husband to death and would do anything for him to be happy but these past few months the feeling of being alone was really taking a toll on him.

Before the last time Harry came home they facetimed at least four times a week and even sent each other letters with gifts. This time Harry was sent out on some kind of mission and barely had the chance to call home. He was being a hero god knows where, saving people's lives while Louis was home, worrying about his husband's well-being.

Suddenly the space around Louis gets more crowded and when he looks up he notices men in uniform walking from the gate. He quickly starts looking around, searching the mop of curls he can't wait to touch again.

He sees someone waving and then blue meets green after such a long time. He breaks into a run and the next thing he knows his feet are no longer touching the ground, his arms are wrapped around strong shoulders and his face is buried in short brown curls, inhaling his husband's scent.

He doesn't know he's crying until Harry takes his face into his hands and starts wiping the tears. They stare into each other's eyes so intensely and long they forget their surroundings. The both of them lean in and share a kiss, no words needed to express what they're feeling right now.

'Welcome home, your mum and sister couldn't come with me but they promised to stop by on the weekend. Sorry for the mess, I tried to tidy up for your arrival but you know how I get when it comes to cleaning.' Louis chuckled as they stepped into their house. Harry only smiles, admiring his small husband.

'How about you go unpack and shower while I get started on dinner?' Louis suggested and turned to Harry, only to find him staring at him. 'Okay sweetheart, but first come give me a kiss.' Harry smiled and reached for Louis' waist.

Louis giggled and quickly folded himself into Harry's arms. They made out for a bit before Louis pulled away and pushed Harry to the staircase.

Harry grabbed his bags and made his way upstairs. He opened the door to their bedroom and inhaled the sweet scent that he knew couldn't belong to anyone else than his husband. He looked around, noticing that the sheets were unmade on his side of the bed and a couple of his hoodies and t-shirts were scattered around the room.

He sighed, knowing how hard it must have been for Louis to be all alone. He remembers the day he met him. The shy small boy sitting all alone in the back of his Maths class. Soon he found out he had trouble socializing due to his anxiety and that he was his only friend, later first boyfriend, first kiss, first and hopefully only and last everything.

He always tried to forget about his tear stained cheeks when they facetimed or that he only really went out when he needed groceries. He was a really good architect and could work from his office at home.

He quickly hopped into the shower and thought about the reaction he's going to get when he tells Louis his surprise.
