Chiba is a sensor type. Lets just get that fact straight first. He sensed Sasuke was farther away from him then Sakura was, so he tried her first.

He made his way towards Sakura and dropped next to her. Surprisingly, she wasn't scared to see him.

"What do you want?" She whispered. She had an annoyed expression on her face.

"A good ninja should be able to hide their presence!" they heard Kakashi say. Chiba turned to look at Sakura.

"If we are going to get the bells, we need to work together!" Chiba whispered back.

"Alright! you and me right here and right now! they heard Naruto yell.

" Don't you think compared to the others your a little.... weird?" Kakashi said to Naruto.

"No way! If I'm gonna work with anyone its gonna be Sasuke!" Sakura whisper yelled. Then she crawled away and went to find Sasuke.

'That didn't work' Chiba thought as he went in the direction of Sasuke. 'Maybe Sasuke will be willing to help' he thought again.

Well. He thought wrong.

"No" Sasuke said after Chiba told him the same thing he said to Sakura. "You will only get in my way.

"You shouldn't let your enemy get behind you all the time" Kakashi said to Naruto. Chiba and Sasuke watched what happened.

"Naruto get out the way he's gonna kill you!" the boys heard Sakura yell.

"Konoha secret jutsu: A thousand years of death!" Kakashi yelled and stuck 2 fingers up Naruto's butt.

"His guard is down!" Sasuke said and threw some shuriken at Kakashi's neck. He hit his target.

"Sasuke! You went to far!" Naruto yelled. Chiba only stared in surprise. Then the unthinkable happened.

The body turned into a log.

'Now he knows where I am! Go to move fast!' Sasuke thought as he leapt away.

Chiba went to help Naruto in the lake. Maybe he could convince him.

"Thanks Chi!" Naruto thanked Chiba.

"Your welcome 'ruto. Listen we need to work together to get the bells!" Chiba told Naruto.

"No! I'm gonna bet him myself!" Naruto yelled as he went to find Kakashi. Chiba outwardly sighed and internally faced palmed.

"Guess I will do this myself." Chiba said to himself.

He found Kakashi and Sasuke fighting. He leapt down to help him.

"Fire style: Blast wave wild dance!" Chiba yelled. A swirl of fire was blown out of his mouth aiming for Kakashi.

"Hmmm. Nice move. But that won't be enough to beat me" Kakashi said to the 2. He disappeared.

"Where are you now?" Sasuke asked absent mindly.

Chiba jumped in a tree and was about to tell Sasuke to do the same but it was to late.

"I'm where you least expect it." Kakashi said as he pulled Sasuke underground.

"A good ninja must learn to be aware of their surroundings" Kakashi said and turned to Chiba.

"Now Its just me and you" Kakashi said as he leapt towards him.

Chiba jumped out the way and did the hand signs for fire ball jutsu.

"Fire style: Fire ball jutsu" Chiba yelled and a fire ball was hurled towards Kakashi.

"Water style: water wall!" Kakashi said and a wall of water rose from the ground. The firevball went right into the wall and a thick fog was made.

"Wind style: Gale force winds!" Chiba cried and a ridiculously strong gust of wind came from no where and cleared the fog also hitting Kakashi in the process.

Kakashi grunted and flew into a tree. He quickly got up and shunshined away.

Chiba turned his attention to Sasuke, who was still underground with only his head sticking out. he went to help him out.

"What was that?" Sasuke asked.

"What was what?" Chiba asked back

" That fire jutsu" Sasuke replied.

"Oh Blast wave wild dance. Its really complex. My brother taught it to me." Chiba replied.

"Hn" Sasuke grunted. They both went away to the place they started. As soon as they made it time was up. Naruto was tied to a stump and Sakura was sitting there

"So none of you got a bell. But your not going back to the academy." Kakashi said.

"Really!" Naruto said surprised. Kakashi nodded.

"Your being dropped from the program completely!" Kakashi said.

"What! But you said we'd have to go back to the academy!" Sakura said.

"Do you know why they put you in groups of 3? The exercise was to test your team work ability." Kakashi said. " Sakura you only wanted to help Sasuke even though Naruto was right in front of you. Naruto you wanted to do it by yourself. Sasuke, you thought you were better than everyone else."

Kakashi looked at Chiba. " But you Chiba... You knew what the exercise was about and you tried to tell them didn't you." Kakashi said to Chiba, who nodded.

"Did any of you even know what this stone behind me is?" Kakashi asked turning to the stone."Its a gravestone to honor all the people who were killed in battle or KIA. Some of my closest friends are on here." Kakashi turned back to the group. " I'm willing to give you guys one more chance. But you should eat lunch first. No body give any to Naruto." Kakashi left in a poof.

"Aww man!" Naruto groaned everyone got their food and began to eat. Everyone except Chiba.

"Here you go 'ruto!" Chiba said cutting Naruto from the stump. "And we can share my Bento box!"

"Really? Your the best Chi!" Naruto said as they ate together.

"But Kakashi-sensai said not to give him any!" Sakura said.

"How can we work together if one of us is on an empty stomach?" Chiba asked. Sasuke got up and passed his bento to Naruto.

"Here. Eat" Sasuke said. Naruto smiled at him. Sakura got up and did the same.

"Thank you guys your the best!" Naruto said as the all shared their bentos. Suddenly Kakashi came.

" You disobeyed my rules. What do you have to say for your self?" Kakashi asked.

"We are a tema. You said that your self!" Sakura said.

"We can't work together if one of us is lagging behind!" Sasuke said. Chiba nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah!" Naruto shouted.

"You... Pass" Kakashi said giving a closed eye smile.

"What!" Naruto and Sakura yelled.

"You pass!" Kakashi repeated. " In the ninja world, those who break the rules are scum. But those who abandon their friends are worse than scum."

"So we are.... NINJA!" Naruto yelled the last part. Kakashi nodded.

"C'mon guys lets go home." Kakashi said, leading them out of the training field. They all celebrated while they walked. Except Sasuke, who only kept a small smile on his face.

This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
