Alex's pov
I sit on my bed nervously. I can't stand up because I know that the moment I do I'll just pace a hole in my floor. The reason why I'm so anxious is because I'm waiting for my letter from "Power Academy". It's this amazing place where people that have powers go to train to become heroes!! Oh, and with that being said yes! Everyone in youopolis has powers...well 90% of them anyways, the other 10% have none. Thankfully though I was part of the 90% that did get a power!! Mine is Levitation!!(A/N:Fear is going to be marked out for plot reasons)
So that just basically means that I can make things float, even PEOPLE!! I can levitate myself but I get a little nauseous after a while. Sorta like how I am right now... "Alexandra!!" I hear my mom call out from my door. Surprisingly she's floating when I see her. But her power isn't levitation, mine is...so that means... "Put me and the rest of your things down!!" She yells. I look around my room and sure enough everything in it is floating even my own bed. I swiftly drop everything back in it's place and then laugh awkwardly.
"S-sorry..." I say feeling a bit embarrassed. "It's fine...but you gotta stop worrying so much Alexandra." She says as she looks at me with this look that only a concerned mother could give. "Sorry mom but I can't help it!! This is the big thing that could change my life completely." I say enfizing my point. "I know....but I just don't want you to be disappointed if or when things don't work out. I want you to...have a backup plan like I did!".
My mom sits herself on my bed right beside me. "I know mom, but just because it didn't work out for you doesn't mean that it won't work out for me." I say. "And I'm not saying that I just-". Before my mom can even finish her sentence the doorbell rings.
I jump up from my bed and rush to the door. I can hear my mom calling for me but I can't help but to ignore her and keep running. I wanted...no...NEEDED to know. I open the door and low and behold it's there. I snatch it from the guy at the door and slam it in his face. Rude I know. But he should know why I did that. I then run back to my room and sit down on my bed. "Is that it?" My mom asked. "Yeah.." I say a bit breathy. I sigh nervously as I slowly open the envelope.
I take out the folded paper and slowly unfold it. I then start to read it:
"Dear Alex,
After reading your entry essay and looking at your back history it is our pleasure to say that you have been formally excepted into our school. We commend you of your talents and we hope to see you there soon.
P.S:Be ready by next week on Monday.
Sincerely,
Power Academy."I can't believe my eyes...did it say what I think it just said? I read it over 5 more times just to be sure and then I start to tear up slightly. "Alexandra what's the matter?!...Did you not get excepted....?" My mom asked in a worried tone. "No mom I did!" I assure her happily. "That's amazing Alexandra!! But then why are you crying?". "I'm just really happy!" I say still tearing up. "Well I'm glad that you got in." My mom says happily. "Yeah I am to! Wait...I'm not packed!!". I jump up in a panic and go over to my closet skimming through it. I can hear my mom laughing but I don't even flinch. It's SATURDAY and I'm not even rady for tomorrow let alone Monday.
