5 years ago, Cambridge University Library

Elizabeth and Lea were working hard on their new project. It wasn't very busy in the library, there were a few other students in the same study room as the two best friends. Lizzie kept having this weird feeling that they were being watched. She looked around and caught a glimpse of a guy that looked familiar.

"Don't look, but isn't that guy in the year above ours? I think saw him at orientation" Lizzie whispered to Lea. The brunette nodded. "Yeah, it's Steve."

"Wait, how would you know that?" Lizzie raised her eyebrow at Lea. "He asked me out at orientation but back then I was still dating Scott."

"Scott was the absolute worst!" Lizzie laughed and looked at Steve again, this time they made eye contact. She quickly looked away. Steve got up and seemed to be leaving, but instead he walked up to the two girls.

"Hi Lea, long time no see." Steve pushed his semi long hair behind his ears. "What are you working on?"

"Hi Steve. Uum we  are working on the project of the second semester. The one with professor Snap." She faked a smile.

Lizzie rolled her eyes at Steve. What an arrogant dick, he's completely ignoring me. She had gotten used to it though, Lea was always getting the attention of cute guys. It was okay though, Lizzie just wanted to focus on her study anyway.

"Oh I aced that project, I can help you with it if you'd like. Maybe tonight at my place? You can bring your friend if you must." Steve winked at Elizabeth.

"Gee thanks, how generous of you." Lizzie replied sarcastically.

Another guy joined the trio. "Come on, Stevie. Stop hitting on chicks in the library, read the room." The mystery guy playfully punched Steve in his arm. "I'm Mark by the way." He smiled at the girls.

"I'm Lea and this is Elizabeth." Lea and Lizzie shook Mark's hand. "Nice to meet you."

The librarian walked up to the group. "Either shut up or piss off, this is not a pub!" She hissed.

"You know what miss, great idea! Shall we?" Steve smirked.

Before Lizzie could say no, Lea already replied. "Yes! Sounds like fun."

Lea practically dragged Lizzie out of the library to the local pub. "Please Lizzie, he's really cute." Lizzie rolled her eyes. "Fine, one pint and I'm out of there."

Present day

Lizzie's eyes fluttered open to a bright white light. She heard two men whispering stressfully. Mark and Steve.

"We should call the police!" Mark hissed. "Absolutely not. We have to keep this a secret, it's bigger than you think!" Steve whisper-screamed.

Lizzie slowly got up from the bed. She was still in the lab. Her head was aching like crazy. What the hell happened? "Please stop arguing and explain to me what the fuck happened."

The two mean stared at her in awe, they hadn't realised she had woken up already. Steve rushed over to her. "Don't get up just yet, take it slow." He brushed some strands of hair from her face and looked into her eyes.

"Let me." Mark pushed Steve aside and shone a light into Lizzie's eyes to check her pupil response, it was normal. She seemed fine.

"Edmund woke up without any of us realising and he was still carrying a weapon. He knocked you out with the back of his dagger and tried to attack us. I knocked him out and now he's back in bed." Steve started to explain.

"Wait, who is Edmund?" Lizzie looked at him confused.

"Edmund Remington. John Doe. Ice man. Capsicle?" He tried to recall all of the nicknames Lizzie had given him.

"How did you find out his name?" Lizzie asked. "He kept shouting Do you have any idea who I am? I am captain Edmund Remington, where is my ship?  like some sort of crazy man." Mark replied.

"Wouldn't you react the same way if you woke up 300 years into the future in a weird lab surrounded by strangers?" Lizzie joked. "Touché."

"What do you mean 300 years in the future?" An unfamiliar voice asked. Lizzie turned around and saw John Doe, or Edmund, standing in the corner as if he'd been standing there the whole time. He looked angry and confused, it scared her. "Please let us explain in a civil manner, sir." Steve said calmly. "No weapons."
