Things Go South

  Synth and Branch were almost back in TrollsTopia, and everything was going smoothly... when all of a sudden, they were confronted with an adult Cuddle Pup!

  Naturally frightened by the predator, both Trolls quickly made a run for it until they could take refuge in a hollow log. However, as they were both catching their breath, Synth noticed something.

  Synth: Wait a Tech; where's Whinny?!

  The Techno ambassador quietly peeked his head out of the log and saw Whinny being held by the Cuddle Pup's teeth, prompting the dark-purple Troll to throw caution to the wind and dash right out!

  The monstrous pink beat swung its spiky, flail-like tail out, only for Synth to dodge it with a jump and a handspring before grabbing onto the snuggle toy. Unfortunately, the Cuddle Pup still had a hold of the Seacorn doll, resulting in the enormous critter flailing the Techno Troll every which way.

  Meanwhile, Branch had followed Synth out of the hiding spot and saw him getting swung around like a rag doll.

  Branch: Synth, no!

  Using his dark-blue hair, the survivalist Troll grabbed his beat-loving buddy and pulled him away from the one-sided tug-o-war match.

  As the pixel-hearted Troll was in his rescuer's arms, he looked down at the necklace in the pile of stuffing and torn fabric that had become of the part of the plushie he'd been holding onto as the flashback of Laguna's disastrous 12th birthday played vividly in his mind.

  It all seemed like a perfectly normal birthday party, with the guests all singing to the birthday girl... until it happened. Someone slammed Laguna's face right into the cake, causing her to burst into tears. As Mr. and Mrs. Tidepool took their daughter to clean off (and treat the burns from the still-lit candles), all the kids started laughing. Except for Synth. He was initially shocked at whomever played that cruel prank on his bespectacled friend, but then his blood began to boil, and his eyes turned a fiery neon red and lost their highlights. And then the whirlpool was unleashed.

  Synth's mind then flashed forward to Laguna seeing her whole party ruined, leaving her even more upset.

  Once the typically carefree Techno Troll snapped out of the flashback, he turned his attention over to the adult Cuddle Pup, who was still holding the other half of Whinny's remains. Then it happened.

  Synth got up on his fins, and his eyes underwent the same changes as in the flashback. He then blasted out a geyser from right underneath the Cuddle Pup, only this geyser was bigger, hotter, and much more powerful than anything his powers had done before, so much so that the beast wound up getting launched into the distance.

  Branch was understandably astonished by what he'd just seen, but that astonishment was quickly set aside when he saw his Techno friend break down in tears.
