Elise's P.O.V.
I had just moved from the city to a very small town at the ripe age of twenty five. I didn't know anything about farm life, building my own house, or raising livestock but I was determined.
I got to work because I had no where to sleep besides my car. I only bought land with the inheritance I had. Between my land and my 2008 Chevrolet HHR, I was broke. I spent every single day that first season working with builders to get my dream house in order while selling paintings just to make enough money for the supplies. It took months  of hard work and long nights but I had built my dream home.  I slept in my car a total of three months until the shell of the house was complete. Between the backache and cold nights, I couldn't wait to get back into a house. Even if I only had an air mattress. All my belongings are still in the storage container I had placed on my property and I won't be moving anything in until the floors are done and walls are complete. Tonight I sleep in a bed within the walls of my dream home.
It was two stories with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.  The bottom floor being the kitchen with a living room, master bedroom and one bathroom. Upstairs had two more rooms with the last bathroom and an open space floor plan to either use as an office or extra space.
The kitchen was an open floor plan as well and was connected to the living room and dining room. The table I placed perfectly between the two rooms to break up the space. I plan on adding more decorations as time and money come around. The house had a sitting area and eventually a child's nook upstairs. It was beautiful, it was everything I had dreamed of.
That's when Kobe came into the picture. It was my first fall in the town and I had decided to finally go explore and meet some locals to get an idea of where to start with Livestock. I was at the local bar just enjoying some food and drinks when he walked in the door. He was absolutely gorgeous. My heart was beating so fast when he walked over and asked my name. We spent that entire night together. I knew from the first night that he would be my husband eventually.
I felt like I had finally fallen in love. At the end of my first winter is when Kobe had finally moved into my house. We were living together for the first time. I couldn't have been happier.  After the first of the year passed we decided to get a dog because we wanted something else in our life, we got an elder dog from the shelter named Tucker. Tucker was perfect for us. He was lazy and playful. I couldn't have asked for a better first dog.  After adding Tucker to the family was when I convinced Kobe to let me get a group of chickens and one cow. My first livestock shipment came quicker than I planned and we struggled for a few months before being able to get a routine down.
One of the coldest nights of March was when Kobe had asked me to marry him. We spent almost six months planning it out just to decide to marry in our backyard. We had a beautiful ceremony and by winter of that same  year we were sharing last names! Kobe made me feel alive.  We honeymooned in the Bahamas on a white sandy beach. We made love almost every chance we could. It was so hard to keep our hands to ourselves that week. The dreadful plane ride home came quick and our love only grew more.
The next few years were amazing and our love was on fire. I had felt something else was meant to happen for us. This couldn't be it?  Our livestock took off and we were doing very well for ourselves. We'd been married almost three years when I started thinking that a baby would be amazing. Being a parent with this amazing human was exactly what I needed. A baby with the man who made me feel whole. I fell even more in love with the idea of having his children. We had lost Tucker due to old age last spring and decided to adopt another dog when the moment was right. Our focus was on the farm and we couldn't train another dog the way we trained Tucker.  God, please give me this man's babies. I want to complete our family and grow old together right here on the porch of the home I built.
A beautiful thought in the moment.
