Jill was on one side of the vast gardens of Ares palace, she was wearing a comfortable cotton dress and a wide woven hat. The weather was sunny and the sun was shining brightly but not too hot because it was almost evening.

Accompanied by several nymphs, Jill walked through the grass and thickets of shrubs carrying a rattan basket. Alastair seemed to be standing guard nearby while taking shelter under a thick tree, apparently he didn't fully trust the Nymphs.

Alastair was one of Ares' knights of high rank and Ares assigned him to guard the Princess of Sparta. He was a demigod which meant he had God's blood running through his body, but Jill never asked who Alastair's father or mother was.

The Nymphs always accompanied her. They were always alert and agreed to Jill's requests but they never spoke. They react by nodding and communicating with each other with a glance.

One day; Jill accidentally saw a Nymph smile, Jill shuddered to see her mouth filled with fangs. No incisors or molars. They turned out to be true carnivores.

Ares doesn't employ human servants at all. The few demigods were also mostly employed as knights. The majority of demigods served Ares because Ares was the most capable god to make them formidable warriors.

Demigods could occasionally leave Olympus to meet their families. Demigod status was usually kept secret, because many humans are superstitious like their hair or body parts have certain properties.

It was only when a demigod became a king or a war hero that their descendant status was widely announced. Not all demigods known to man were actually demigods. Many of them are lies. The Gods of Olympus didn't want to bother thinking about the demigods, because they were too busy with their own business.

Because of the limited access in the mountains of Olympus, no human dared to roam there. For food and raw materials supply, Ares asked several demigods to make transactions with the humans at the border.

Ares Palace's kitchens are filled with a wide variety of high-quality ingredients. But no human had ever set foot there. The demigods and titans, even though they were women, were educated in the Ares Palace as fighters. They couldn't cook.

Nymphs and Satyrs who were clearly not humans were taking care of the kitchen instead. Of course the food served was not exactly delicious. Moreover, Nymphs like to eat raw meat, it is only natural that their meat dishes taste tough.

Jill had gotten permission from Ares to use the kitchen. Only for the next two days. That was because Jill had already agreed to prepare a dinner which was attended by some of Ares' close relatives. To announce their marriage.

The girl was busy looking for spices in the garden which was crowded with various wild plants. Jill could even find rare truffles there. But she needed more basil and rosemary for her meal tomorrow. She once took private lessons with the chef of a Michelin-starred restaurant but she remains an amateur chef. Even so, she was sure that the food would taste better than what the nymphs cooked. She didn't need to take this job too seriously.

What was on her mind now was her marital status. Ares was mad at her, and so was she. But Jill was willing to compromise and give in. She couldn't force modern-day equality in Ares' court. But it seems the war god was already getting sick of her. Because he didn't want to meet the princess of Sparta at all. Even when Jill asked to meet, his bodyguard admitted that he was busy.

"Maybe I won't be here long, Alastair," Jill muttered weakly while filling her basket with fresh rosemary leaves.

"Why do you say that, princess?"

"Ares isn't interested in me anymore, I might have to get out of his palace. After that I'll be caught by the satyrs and forced to become their wife. Maybe I better meet the cyclops first and be their meal," Jill complained.
