゚+..。*゚+ Every student at hogwarts knew about the ball. Groups of boys and girls huddled together giggling and squeling talking about either who they asked to the ball or who asked them to the ball. It was getting annoying at this point.

Eighteen. A total of eighteen boys had asked Zara to the ball, but of course she declined. Nobody knew she was going with Regulus, it was just the two of them. Finally, after receiving voilent threats from both Marlene and Naina she let it slip that she was going to be accompanied by a certain curly slytherin.

Marlene had never ever face palmed more in her life. All of their friends could clearly see the tension between Sirius Black and Zara Malik. But alas, if only the two could sense it themselves.

"Man, just go and ask Zara already. Its not like she could ever say no to you" James tried to encourage his friend but much to his dismay Sirius did not take his words seriously.

James however couldn't stop thinking about the other Black brother and his other best friend.
Yes, he knew they were both undeniably good friends but he couldn't shake the thought of them being more than just friends. It would kill him to see his best mate get heartbroken.

Sirius would not accept it but Zara's closeness towards his brother brothered him a great deal. Regulas was the perfect son his parents could ask for. He was a slytherin like them, he believed in the so called pureblood superiority, he did as mother told him to do and never had a thing for rebellion. Hence, the perfect son. Sirius could never be like him. He wasn't a Slytherin unlike Regulas. He did not believe in the horrendous belief of purebloods being superior to other witches and wizards. He would always go against his foul, wicked and awful excuse of parents. He could never be the perfect son for them and that made him leave the dreadful place for his own good. Sure, Sirius did love his younger brother yet he couldn't help but be envious of him. He felt guilty even, as if he was responsible for such upbringing of his younger brother.

"James eighteen boys asked her out. Fucking eighteen, and she turned down each one of them ! Hell, even Carter Archibald asked her and she refused him too!"

Carter Archibald was a disgustingly good looking quidditch chaser from ravenclaw but Sirius comparing himself to Archibald displayed his sense of insecurity. One thing James knew damn well was that Sirius Black was never insecure of his features. Sirius never cared about his looks, he knew he was attractive. He was the most charming, handsome yet cheeky person James knew. If he was comparing himself to Carter then surely Sirius was freaked out

"he looks like a horse-"

"Not the time!"

"jeez woman, continue"

"I have no chance Prongs, she will reject me too which will taint our friendship and eventually
she will stop talking to me. We will never speak to each other again and I will have to live the rest of my life and die thinking how i couldn't be with the only woman I love and how i destroyed our friendship-"

"Have a biscuit Padfoot"

"Zara will - have a what ?" Siriua asked in genuine confusion.

"Have a biscuit" James offeres him a pack of muggle biscuits namely oreos.

Sirius shrugged and picked one out, only to dive his hand into the packet and stuff them into his pockets. Wasn't his fault though, oreos were delicious, maybe even the best human discovery ever occured, or maybe just maybe oreos happened to be Zara's best loved cookies.
