Mathilda Yaxley was a disappointment from the moment she was born.
It wasn't through any fault of her own. In fact, genetics would say that it was her father's fault she was born a girl. Without a male heir to carry on the Yaxley name, that meant they had to find Mathilda a suitable match among the others of the Sacred Twenty-Eight.
Sirius Black was the first thought. He was only a month older than little Mathilda and by marrying into the Black family line it would ensure their children would be essentially pureblood royalty.
Those hopes were dashed the moment Sirius Black was sorted into Gryffindor, marking him a blood-traitor. And that option was really destroyed after sixth year, when Sirius left 12 Grimmauld Place, choosing to live with his best friend, James Potter, instead.
The Yaxleys were quick to find someone new for their little Mathilda, finally settling on Rabastan Lestrange, the brother of Rodolphus, who had married Bellatrix Black only some years before.
But here's the problem.
Mathilda doesn't want Sirius. She doesn't want Rabastan. In fact, she doesn't want any boy at all.
